Iron Man 3 (Movie Thread)-05/03/13 - New Trailer pg12 - Suits on Suits on Suits

But wait no one else saw the Ant Man reference in the movie?  I coulda swore when Tony was buying things from the store he put up a bag that had the words "Ant" and "Grow" on it.  It was a brief moment, but I might watch it again on a $5 day to confirm.
He used that stuff for the exploding ornaments right?

Saw the movie earlier today and was like wtf? Why would Marvel approve this script? Like someone mentioned, taking one of the main villains of a hero and making him a joke makes no sense :smh:. I don't want an Iron Man movie where Tony is barely in the suit and blowing stuff up and Rhodes isn't blowing stuff up with his suit. It has a high rating right now on Rotten Tomatoes.

Just realized that this movie would have been at par with The Dark Knight had they never screwed up with The Mandarin.

I also hate how they overpowered the villains. The Mandarin's modified henchmen could have easily saved New York from Loki's army. Heck, they could probably kill Loki himself.

I feel like they tried to copy TDKR's Bane with The Mandarin

Bane = The Mandarin

Miranda Tate = Aldrich Killian

Except the comedic reveal backfired for some of you

Maybe I need to the see the movie again, but after the reveal I just had a negative view of the movie from that point on.

Yeah except Bane stayed a badass for the whole movie

the new york invasion was a fairly random event. its not like every "hero" wouldve been in ny at the time". it just happened that the shield helicarrier was relatively close to ny when it crashed. Now we all know that the real reason is because worlds arent supposed to collide in a characters indiviual movie. Like how none of the avengers responded to the threat of the mandarin. but thats ok.

Saw it this weekend forgot to post in here. The movie was okay, I was a little disappointed. Marvel movies are a little too light for my taste (The Dark Knight series has spoiled me in terms of the darkness it brought which I loved) and this one did not disappoint in terms of it being family friendly. There were definitely some funny parts, like the exchanges between the kid and Downey, but they were trying to be funny at parts where it should've been more serious and it just resulted in an overall corny effect. Such as when Tony calls the suit doing whatever then it hits the barrel and breaks, as well as numerous other one liners that shouldn't have been included.

They had a lot of potential to make this one great but they didn't do it....

When Pepper kills the dude at the end I was just :smh:

this, nolan raised my standards of superhero movies. iron man 3 felt like iron man 2 and spiderman...and daredevil. i think the edward norton hulk was one of the best marvel movies. captain america was better also. i thought thor was fun. all the other movies were mostly w.e..

Nah just Fire Ant Control

The more I think about the story line of this movie the more it pisses me off... So you have Tony Stark aka IM, billionaire owner of Stark Industries, genius inventor of unheralded mech with Jarvis running his Pacific Palisades manse & no early warning of incoming air craft, no anti air craft? No defense mech? :smh:

^
Tony's rant in front of the cameras was so dumb. Guy Pearce sent his helicopter goons and was like eff you. They're lucky Maya's fine self was looking at the tv screen.

I vaguely remember the government (or Rhodes telling Stark) that they do not want "heroes" to be involved, that it was government business.

Plus I think the other individual films, like Thor & Capt. America likely happens on the same time frame as the events in IM3 so they are probably pre-occupied. SHIELD has a lot of roles in the upcoming Capt. America film too from what I could see.

i know these movies all have plot holes but this dude goes 99% of the movie with either a broken suit or no suit, breaks in to a terrorist organization with homemade gadgets, puts himself in harms way countless times when at the touch of a button he can summon 41 other suits? i dont get it

Right? .. Dude gave his address but yet he only has the prototype of mark 42 or whatever he calls that new suit

And please off that Bane comparison .. Bane actually did something like ummm kick batmans *** rather than making threats on TV.

I think were supposed to assume that at that point, the mandarin was sort of an al quaeda like organization. Not the resourceful group that killian has. What I mean is I dont think tony thought the mandarin would be able to get 4 military helicopters in the US so quickly. But killian could

I think Marvel needs to be careful with their upcoming "solo" movies.. since they are all connected to the Avengers...people will be wondering about this sort of stuff from now on..

to be fair, with a house like that its a safe bet that everyone in america knows where he lives

Anybody notice the doctor who saves Tony's life in the first Iron Man was in the beginning of Iron Man 3?

Why are people complaining? Because that isn't what Mandarin really is. I mean that article says itself that it isn't even in continuity with the Ultimateverse. So you are saying that if they made Joker a ninja in TDK that it'll be perfectly fine? If they made Red Skull have a blue face? Or Loki played by a woman? I mean really, this is IronMans arch nemesis and you guys just want to over look the crap they did? To be honest, the twist wasn't even that great, it felt like a forced shock value than anything. I was more like "WTF" than "Oh s***, no way!"

I understand people liking the film but do not give Marvel a pass for the disgrace they did with the Mandarin character especially since he is the villain everyone has been looking forward to since the first film came out.
Pretty much and this is what the film's apologists are refusing to get. If you didn't have any knowledge of Iron Man then it wouldn't be a big deal to you, but this was pure desecration of the source material. As it has been said multiple times, you do not do this to the hero's arch nemesis. I don't know how this happened. As much as Marvel has gotten in the way of writers before (Norton's Hulk) you would think they'd influence their will on this movie.

I don't know really know Mandarin but i'm pretty pissed off.

this. its like how you dont need to know anything about batman to understand how cool/great the joker was in the dark knight. you dont need to know anything about the comics to see that the actual mandarin would have made the movie that much better

From a casual viewer's point of view, this just wasn't a particularly well-made movie.

The plot wasn't well written, paced, or much of anything. This has nothing to do with how accurate or innaccurate it was to the comics. A lot of the stuff that drove this move forward was either cliche, predictable, or unnecessary.

The only things that made it entertaining were the acting, humor, and some of the action.

Which is why a billionaire/genius inventor (without a secret identity) should have a complex defense system set up to ward off such attacks.

NTer kvsm23vs24 said it best, Jarvis was proly updating at the time & since it was most likely a miscrosoft based AI, the udpate process proly froze up & crashed & in the midst of a restart... :smh:

This movie was strictly a cash grab & I feel dirty & used...
