:::[Official] San Francisco 49ers 2012-2013 Season Thread - Training Camp Starts July 27:::

^ Hes been battling a Pelvis injury. Watching him lately, he looks like he lost his confidence, hes trying to hard. Hes not even consistently nailing his FGs during pregame. People at the stick were wrong for booing him today tho.
With that being said, Harbaugh needs to find another kicker for this postseason. Billy Cundiff and Ryan Longwell are available.

i'm not a professional athlete, so i don't know how much competitive spirit one must have. but i imagine if you know you're not at 100%, nor anywhere near close to it, you gotta be honest with yourself, your coach and team. if an injury is potentially going to cost your team a game, you've gotta sit your sorry self out. akers might as well be kicking with a pair of crutches under his arms. this dude is not even a shell of the kicker he once was. watching this guy in pregame was painful, if not frustrating, missing by wide margins on kicks from 45 yards+. there was damn near no wind at the stick on sunday's game.

i don't feel bad for akers whatsoever. this dude is getting paid millions of dollars to make FGs, not put his team into a losing position. i don't understand how jim harbaugh was so quick to turn his back on alex smith and replace him with Kaep. but for some reason, has stuck with an inconsistent akers over the past 4-5 weeks?

Akers name been on the Injury Report the past month and longer. Akers cost us 2 wins against the Rams and we're all frustrated with his production but when your number gets called, you think any player in their right mind would tell the coach and team No? Its the same as players lying to play through concussions. This is on Harbaugh, he shouldve taken care of this problem weeks ago. He sees his kicker struggling in practice, pregame, and in games and he hasnt done anything about it.

This situation is different from benching Alex for Kaep. Alex didnt have the ability to move the ball down the field in the same fashion as Kaep. While I didnt agree with the decision at the time, Harbaugh felt he had a better alternative option in Kaep. We currently dont have a better alternative on the roster to replace Akers whch is why I felt Harbaugh shouldve looked weeks ago.

i dont get it.but thanks for the info
Highest seed always plays lowest remaining seed. ATL is #1 MIN is #6 so they would play each other if the Vikings beat the packers. If #3 GB wins the lowest remaining seed would be either #4 WAS or #5 SEA and they would play ATL.

The Jets and Jaguars have asked the 49ers for permission to interview director of player personnel Tom Gamble for their general-manager vacancies, ESPN reported.

If he leaves I hope he takes Greg Roman w/ him

Copycat league. I think the Texans, Falcons, Seahawks, ********, and Bengals all have their directors of player personnel interview for GM jobs.

Billy Cundiff on his way to Santa Clara for his second workout with the #49ers in the last month, source says. Others to work out, too.

Dont want Cundiff, hes sucked this yr and choked in the playoff game last season which caused the ravens not to go to the SB.
Jacobs was cut today too.

Brandon Jacobs being cut leaving a roster spot open for Cundiff?

Where is Martin Grammatica to make sense of all of this

They need to sign Longwell, Rackers or Kasay. Cundiff would be even worse than Akers.

Maiocco said we are signing Billy Cundiff :smh: :x

The one person that may be worse than Akers imo.

C'mon Jimmy, you should've asked your big bro before you decided to sign Cundiff! Man, we should've went for Fremont's own Justin Medlock instead!
