The xx - Coexist.... releases 9-11!!!!!!!Official Thread

Wow I can't believe this album is out 3 weeks early. I am debating whether or not to listen or wait for the official release.

Definitely going to be listening to this for a while. Album is great.

Great album. I fell like it will be gettign a ton of spins as the semester goes on.
This is perfect music to study to

This album is truly amazing. I'm so glad they decided to add more drums to the tracks. The album flows flawlessly too. Copping this when it releases, for sure :pimp:

tha feel when you wanna get jiggy to the last part of Reunion.

I listened to XX about a month ago and thought it was cool.

This album tho

i must be the only person who thinks this album is pretty underwhelming...i like Jamie XX, but son needs some new kits...only tracks i'm loving are Angels and Try...everything else sounds the same to me...

Album is great its actually more chill than their debut. Not as many uptempo tracks but as someone else said they stayed true to their sound and the lyricism is great as usual. I like that Coexist plays differently from XX but still has that sound that I love from them.

Hate to be that guy (not really), but this was painfully boring. Then again, I thought that about their debut album, too. Production way too minimalistic, dull and emotionless vocals (especially from that male vocalist, the female is alright, I guess), and the lyrics are nothing to write home about from what I can tell. I tried, but I'm gonna have to accept the fact they're not for me and pass on any of their future projects. I can't put myself through another one of their albums.

Wow.  This album is dope.  Like really, really dope.

Will most definitely support on the drop date.  I encourage everyone else who likes it to do the same.

I have a friend who feels the same as you. I don't personally get how you guys guys could find them "boring" but it's all personal taste I guess.

I think it's refreshingly minimal. In an age where everyone goes for "more", I'm glad there's a band that reassesses their sound and subtracts instead... leaving only what they feel is necessary. It would have been out of character and come off as cheap if they changed their sound so drastically so as to not even sound like themselves anymore. Anyone following their young career, from when they were first a four-piece and had people excited with Basic Space/VCR to Jamie xx's blossoming solo career as a producer and DJ, would be able to pick up on the natural progression of their sound from the beginning to Coexist.

I just dont see, APH, how you find the singers dull and emotionless. I can imagine how someone might not like the minimalist approach, though I love it.

Hmm, what happened to the other chick?

But, to be frank, I personally find the approach towards minimalism to be really well executed and that just resonates with me for some reason. I am open for experimental albums and the like like Embryonic, but the simplistic approach to the music is very well put. It's all about the delivery and I feel The XX are really good at delivering a simplistic formula that's minimal, yet appealing and intriguing in sound and taste :smokin

The drums on Fiction are really good, but once the piano bass chords drop, it makes it that much better :x:x

So far, its another good but not great album from The xx. I'll give it another listen but I doubt my opinion changes.
