Oden or Durant?

I was just wondering after almost half an NBA season has passed and we've all seen what Durant is capable of. Even though Oden hasn't set foot in anNBA game yet, who do you think will be better or have led his team further in 10 years? I'm wondering if Oden becomes dominant like Duncan or Howard now,or is never that good and ends up another stiff in the L.

I said Durant before, I'm saying Durant now, everyone will be saying Durant in the future.

Im going to stay with Oden. The team he is on will help him develop a lot

Different. If I had to take one now, knowing what I know about Oden's knee I would say Durant. But Oden fits in better wit the blazers than Durant wouldhave because they already have Darius Miles playing small foward.

KD

A lot of people who say Oden...are going to co-sign on the ESPN theory which is "Oden is going to win championships, even though Durant may be betteroverall".

Kevin is just flat out a better player...I don't know any other way to slice it.

Many say is Durant is STRUGGLING right now and he's averaging 20 points and 4 rebounds per game at the shooting guard position...shooting 41% (Incomparison...Lebron shot 41.7 and Melo shot 42.6 in their first seasons...since some here like to swear that Durant is shooting so poorly). If that isstruggling...the league is in trouble in the future. I love how PJ is bringing him alone and throwing him right in the fire...letting him play throughmistakes. Not putting a restriction on his shot selection so that he will NATURALLY understand how to choose his shots better. I also love how they'remaking him defend different positions on the floor...making him guard guys like Nash and Paul...and then turn around and defend someone like Dwight Howard.Couple this strategy with his work ethic...and I would say a monster is being built. He's already got that killer instinct...when his basketball IQimproves and he gets stronger...I don't see anyone not named Lebron James who has a higher ceiling than him.

You seen the Blazers play this year?

Darius Miles stats this year = 0 ppg, 0 rebs, 0 assts, 0 stls, 0 blks, 0 Games Played.

Oden

and my reasons

1) Defense

all you need to is look at how far OSU got last year..

he dominates in ways Durant can't

Durant is a scorer, like Carmelo

And I stand by what I said previously that once Oden has about 2 go to moves and learns a proper drop step and jump hook....just forget about it.

He'll get 20 and 10, with 3 blocks a night....and his team will win 55 a year

In my mind, yes there's no question Durant is a more skilled player with the ball and altogether on the offensive end

He'll have better stats, more 40 point games, etc

But with the choice to build a team around either one, for me, its without question Oden

Kevin, but I can't say if it is just cause I am in Seattle, and I want us to have gotten the hook up. That said I am not a big hoops fan, nor do I pretendto be really knowlegdable in that arena, BUT oo206oo and my room mate are both huge hoop fans and both are going the Durant route too.

Microfracture is serious I dont care how old you are. Oden is in a better situation than Durant.

Kevin Durant.

Oden looks like the second coming of Sam Bowie/Pervis Ellison - a promising center whose career will be cut short by injuries. Before the draft, teams alreadyknew that he didn't have full range of motion in his wrist yet, plus a herniated disc in his back. Now he's out due to microfracture surgery on hisknee. And since dude has one leg longer than the other, you gotta figure that it'll eventually cause related injuries due to him compensating for thatcondition.

/\ I wouldnt say Oden is in a better situation. I'd say Portland was in a better situation than Seattle. Portland belongs to Brandon Roy. Durant is on abad team...but its a rebuilding team...and he is already the face of the franchise. It's baptism by fire...something Oden will never have the luxury ofhaving. The way Roy looks...there will never be a time where you say the Blazers are "Oden's team". Kevin is the same situation Lebron/Melo were. From an INDIVIDUAL point of view...Oden and Durant are being groomed to be in two totally different situations. Oden is a situation where he can be a big pieceof the puzzle and fit INTO a structure already built. In Seattle, the puzzle starts with Durant...the team is being built to suit HIS game. Jeff Green waschosen to COMPLIMENT Durant. Roy was chosen to compliment the pieces they already have in place. Which is why I am PUZZLED that anyone would choose Oden tobuild a franchise around...unless you plan on also acquiring a Brandon Roy/Kevin Durant all star caliber player then that team is going to be in trouble. IfPortland was god awful like Seattle was and Roy and Aldridge weren't around...I'm not exactly sure Oden even goes #1.

So once again...Portand looks GREAT on paper for the future. I think they're solidified in almost every slot. If Oden works out...it would be a GREAT fit.Meanwhile...Seattle begins and ends with Kevin Durant. It's up to management to build on that. It's honestly like an Apples/Oranges comparison at thispoint.

He'll get 20 and 10, with 3 blocks a night....and his team will win 55 a year
You must be talking about Lamarcus Aldridge...cause he's already a player of that caliber now and he's young and hasnt reached his ceilingyet. And we already know Roy is going to put up numbers...so I'm puzzled as to when you think Oden is going to have the opportunities to become that typeof player. You must plan on Roy or Aldridge not being there much longer or one of them regressing when comes along...and if you do...you're in the minoritywith that thought.

I say that because, it is easier to build around a player who doesn't dominate the ball
Perhaps...depending on who you ask. But at some point...every franchise guy is going to HAVE to dominate the ball. Name me one prime time, superstar who has never had to dominate the ball...sometimes for long stretches year in and year out. That said...therein lies another problem...Oden doesnthave the ability to dominate the ball. Oden has NEVER been a guy who has been a go to player...unless he was playing against 6'5 centers. He'll neverbe a Duncan or a Shaq. We've never seen him take over a game. I don't even have to talk about Kevin taking over games...because we've seen it onevery level he's played on. Even as a skinny 19 year old rookie...he has flat out took over games at times.

People forget that LaMarcus Aldridge is there in Portland too. He is there main scorer in the post ( even though he likes to face up and shoot the j). Then BRoy is their go to player. I just think Oden is going to be more used for defense and rebounding. He will average a double-double. I just cant see how it pansout for Oden on the offensive end. He will be more like a Dwight Howard than a Tim Duncan as far as skill vs. using pure athleticism to score. With that said,I go with Durant. It is Apples/ Oranges though

^ understood, but I'm still takin Oden

I say that because, it is easier to build around a player who doesn't dominate the ball

Here we go again.............Durant FTW!!

Here's why:

1. Oden sucks

2. Oden is hyped

3. Oden will be a bust (remember I said that, seriously)

4. Durant is just a beast

Durant is a beast, but I think to build a team starting with a quality big man makes much more sense...there are fewer Odens than Durants in the NBA (playingstyle wise of course). So I'd go with Oden. Damn, when Portland gets him next year....I don't think the league wants to know

I say 20 and 10...because that 20 won't be hard to come by. It may be more around 17 or 18 but it'll def be 15+

His post game is not nearly what it can be...OSU staff never got him to properly do simple things like squaring up on his hooks.

I really think the sky is the limit for him

I think eventually he CAN dominate the ball and they can work inside out.

We'll see

Let's see, Oden is a Blazer, Durant is not. Durant wins.

Bowie two may win chips, when he leaves town, but Durant is the better player.

This is what I keep asking? WHAT IS AN ODEN? We know what a Durant is...we've seen it in HS, College, and now the NBA. But what is an Oden? What has hedone that was so remarkable and unmatched? Because I can answer that question for Kevin. I don't get it...it's almost the reverse of the argument thatwe've been hearing in the NBA for the past decade when it comes to incoming players. Potential vs. Production. Why is that in this case potential isoutweighing production?

But my question is...when is he going to get that opportunity to score that many points? 20 is not hard to come by...when you're the first or secondoption on the team. But we're talking about third here. And this isnt a situation where the incoming players is much more of a threat and will take one ofthose first or second option slots. Roy and Lamarcus are by FAR more advanced offensively. Roy is in his second season...he's averaging 19. Lamarcus is inhis second season...he's averaging 18. Naturally with their talent and their age...you have to expect those numbers to grow. So at what point do you thinkOden is going to be able to add in his 18 or more points. Unless you think they're going to be the highest trio in the league...and then that means Websteris going to have to take less shots...Outlaw is going to have to take less shots...Jack is going to have take less shots...Jones is going to have to take lessshots...and all these players are too talented for that to happen. Long story short...this team already has enough weapons offensively to accommodate another18 or more points per game

Well, since we haven't seen Oden in the NBA yet, I have to go with Durant.

Oden has what it takes to be a great player, though.

I can't say....but he's gona be too good eventually to not get 18 a game..and imo, it won't require many shots

durant. he's scoring 20 a night w/ no muscle and rarely shoots any FT's. once he adds going to the basket to his game, he'll easily be avg 25ppg +.not to mention he has no PG and no low post threat. when oden finally comes around he'll be playing w/ a legit go to guy (roy) and an emerging big man.

i was never a fan of oden. he could barely stay out of foul trouble in college, so i imagine (for a while) he'll be hackin away in the league. no doubt heplayed out of his mind against florida, but he was nearly outplayed by a mechanical roy hibbert. plus we've seen how microfracture delays your career.

This is the Dwight or Okafor argument.

Oden probably isn't going to be that much better than Okafor aside from couple inches and the knee injury sets him back further. I really don't believehe has what it takes to really dominate in the L. He only averaged about 10 rebounds on the college level and 3 and half bocks. Those numbers aren't goingto be as high in the L and his offensive game isn't as polished.

Emeka = Oden

I really feel that in the end they will have the same type of career, except Emeka will probably never have a chance to be the man on a team again.
