Greg Anthony just said Chris Paul was the best point guard in the NBA.

Again, Paul is having a great season.

But Kidd been doing it for years.

And he's still doing it this year putting up triple doubles every other week.

Ain't no way 5 PG's in today's game is better than Jason Kidd, that's all.

But hey, everybody's entitled to their opinion.

I mean everybody got there own ( opinion ) thats who he think is the best pg!!!! yours/mines could be different...thats just like me sayin 4 Example: ( shawnbradley former nba player for the dallas mavericks ) should go to the hall of fame thats my '' opinion '' yours could be different but thats me

Agree completely. Deron can get out and defend a little bit, and he doesn't take a ton of chances and gamble a lot because Jerry Sloan won't have it. Deron's big enough to defend bigger guards and quick enough to guard guys like Chris Paul...

Paul takes a TON of chances defensively in the passing lanes, and that's why he gets his steals. Steals =/= good defense. Chris ain't locking down NOBODY. I think Chris is better and has a greater upside, but Deron is a damn good player in his own right and I can really see an argument for putting that head-to-head matchup as a coin-flip.
Whats really crazy is the idea that Mo Willaims is better point guard (this part is important) than Jose Calderon.
Crazier that Raptors fans are the only ones really arguing it.

He averages less turnovers and more assists in less minutes with also a higher field goal percentage? What more would you like?

CP3 is a clever PG that gets away with a physical game. Haven't seen a physical guard like him in a long time, he can take the hit and dish out hits. Ilike that he doesn;t flop either. But he does get away with alot of physical play. Most of the time the refs won't let the guards play a bruising game, butfor some reason the refs let him play. He just a more balanced and heady PG than Baron. Definitely different from nash and kidd, who rely more on passingskills than brute force. Deron is a tweener.

Give jason kidd a low post prescence and he would be so much better --- his low post prescence is JASON FREAKIN COLLINS

All the PGs that you fools are sayin is better then Kidd has a decent if not excellent low post player

Williams has Boozer

Paul has West

Billups has Mohammed (Mind drew a blank but heck I would still rather have him then JASON COLLINS)

Nash has Stoudamire

Parker has DUNCAN

Those point guards are good cause they have a low post player

I'm just waiting for some1 to say Rajon Rondo is a better player than Kidd --- Better yet Raymond Felton avgs like 15 ppg and like 8 ast I do beleive so ishe better than Kidd as well?

dont act like kidd hasnt took his team to the finals 2wice
EXACTLY. My dude wants to talk about "winning means something in basketball" like Jason Kidd hasn't made deeper runs than any PG inthe league not named Chauncey Billups or Tony Parker.
He averages less turnovers and more assists in less minutes with also a higher field goal percentage? What more would you like?
Mo has the ball in his hands more and is held responsible for more of the scoring load than Calderon is. He doesn't have the luxury of dumpingthe ball into Chris Bosh on the blocks every night. I've seen enough of both to feel comfortable in saying I'd rather have Mo than Calderon. We'llagree to disagree.
Deron is a tweener.
A tweener? Deron Williams is a flat out PG. He's not a tweener in any sense.

If anything CP3 is the "tweener", compared with Deron Williams. Deron Williams is STRONG. not like Diddy, but very damn close.

No one here is a tweener. Except for maybe Tony Parker and maybe Mo Williams.

Um, that is Greg Anthony's opinion.. So I will state my own

1. Jason Kidd

2. Steve Nash

3. Chris Paul

4. Baron Davis

5. Tony Parker

6. Deron Williams

7. Chauncey Billups

8. TJ Ford .. Seriously he'd be up there if he was never plagued by injuries..

Chris Paul has had an excellent season thus far.. But, please let us not jump and make bold predictions irrationally before the playoffs even begin..

i know none of them are tweeners but CP3 compared to Deron...you can have ur opinion about which one is better but it's a fact Deron is simply stronger.

Let me reiterate, in the context of my sentence I was using "tweener" for Deron him being a physical and passing guard, not a between pos. player. That being said, Deron is stronger than CP3, but he doesn't play the angry bulldog like CP3.

But my pick on top PGs, but the margin is small.

1)Kidd...if you haven't watch him play, then don't comment.
2)Nash, very gifted passer, his vision may be the best of the bunch.
3)Deron and CP3, very balanced and heady PG.

Really a shame sooo many good PG in the West and a only a few are going to make th ASG.

you got AI, TP, BD left hanging...

i'm biased since CP3 is on my fantasy squad, but basketballmonster.com

has CP3 as the best player in the league (fantasy player-wise)

1. Steve Nash
2. Chauncy Billups
3. Tony Parker
4. Chris Paul
5. Baron Davis
6. Jason Kidd
7. Deron Williams

Present time. Give CP3 a few more years though. He'll get there.

The PG position is hard to dissect nowadays, it all depends on what your ideal PG should encompass. For me personally, these are the traits I look for, in order:
1) Distribution (this ties in with ast/to ratio, floor generalship)
2) Scoring
3) Defense

In today's game you have PG's, some all-star caliber even, who JUST SCORE! Yeah, they will average their 7.5 dimes by virtue of ballcommand, double-teams, etc... but do they really possess the god-given court vision of someone like Andre Miller, who is a dying breed.

Nash and Billups are the same in that they are good floor generals who can dictate flow of the game, one just does it in a halfcourt set while the othermight be on acid. It's really difficult to rank PG's because they all play in different systems and utilize their strengths accordingly.
