That was never really confirmed at all, but the speculation is that Phil wanted more control and Kraus being the ego maniac that he is would not give in.Jordan did bank those final two years, but he was so rich from endorsements, that no one knew he was being really underpaid in terms of his Bulls contract. Those last two years were one year deals so they negotiated any deal they wanted. The NBPA rules allowed a veteran free agent to be signed for whatever amountthe two parties negotiated, and the team was allowed to go over the salary cap. The Knicks probably offered more than Chicago. Just think of what Lebron isgoing to get when the Nets moved to Brooklyn .

The way centers are being payed today it won't be long before someone will be competeing with Jim Mcilvaine for the worst contract ever. Still thougheven today with every center being payed like crazy, a prime Jim Mcilvaine is barely worth the veteran's minimum.

Nike has something in their contract with LBJ where if he goes to a big market(Chicago, L.A., or New York I think),
he gets crazy more money.

^ If I remember correctly, it's in his Nike contract that they will double the initial amount ($90mil) if he goes to CHI, LA, or NY.
therenegade23:
How much would be that (Jordan's 60+ mil) be if it was today?
BallinBoykz:
eek.gif
great point. like 200 Mil... Lebron Esq Nike contract money
laugh.gif

$200 mil?
laugh.gif
Why are you acting like 1998 was 100 years ago?

$60mil in '98 then would be $73mil today.

look at grant hill:

All you guys who's naive enough to believe Lebron will re-sign with Clev are delusional. This dude will end up in either, Chicago or New York. And FYI:The nets are postponing their move to Brooklyn. theyre moving to Brooklyn sometime during the 2010 season. Here's a link to all the people who stilldon't believe.

Plus, it would be in his best interest to play for the Knicks instead of the Nets. Brining the Knicks back to glory would help his image and boost his legacy alot more then helping a team who will always play second fiddle to the fans in NY. We all know that the Knicks is and always will be NYC basketball team. Alsoplaying for one of the most storied franchises in all of sports does have meaning to it as well.
