Does Devin Harris have the ability to become as good as Tony Parker?

Now, before you bash me, just hear me out.

When Tony Parker was a rook, and entering the League, he wasn't very good, average point guard, poor shooting, very similar to Devin Harris. Now theseplayers both play about the same, capable of driving inside, can knock down jumpers, and very quick and agile guys (only an inch and five pounds separating thetwo). I'm not saying that Devin is as good as TP now, but I think he has the potential to be as good as Tony, and they obviously have their differences(Devin flops, Tony has the tear-drop, etc.

), but I think Devin can be as good as Tony, and he's making strides this season, shooting the ball verywell from around the field.

Devin Harris needs to just shut the hell up and play.

I've never seen a guy that has accomplished so little in his short NBA career complain so much. He's one of the key reasons I can't stand Dallas.

Their skill sets are very similar... If Devin continues putting in the work to get his jumper going on a regular basis, I think he can definitely get to thatlevel. He needs to keep improving on his decision making as well, but he's gotten A TON better this year and is finally showing flashes of what DonnieNelson and the Mavs thought he could be when they drafted him. I don't think he'll ever be able to handle the scoring load Tony Parker does, but I cansee him filling that same type role for the Mavericks in the coming years.

That said, I still can't decide which one of the two I dislike more.

How far would you say he is off now? I guess no rings, but that's also the difference between having Duncan/Gino and Dirk/JHo as teammates. He almostalways wins the individual matchup when the two teams play, even going back to his rookie yr when he gave the Spurs 20 in the 4th alone. Last couple months hehas been making the jumpers and 3s, leaving very little to complain about, other than that I hate flops but it's what the league is now.

Comparing the two teams, Devin has always had a huge impact on the game, he was the best player probably next to Dirk in the games he's played in sincehe's been in the game, don't forget about the games where he scored pivotal baskets against Tim Duncan, I wasn't so much comparing the two teams, but the players and their overall effect on the game, not just against each other.

co-sign.

Heck no.

People dont realize how unique of a player Tony really is. He shot 52% from the field last season

. He is one of the best finishers in the league and he attacks the rackconstantly. His speed with the ball and his uncanny ability to finish tough shots makes him one of, if not the most dangerous player in theopen court in the nba today.

Devin ceiling is higher than TP.
That's BS. How would you even know where Parker's ceiling is? He's only 25, there is a lot of basketball ahead of him. Parker waserratic as heck when the he entered the league and now, only a few seasons in, he's one of the most efficient guards in the game. It just seems like heshould be at his peak because he's been aroud forever and has 3 chips already.

Have you seen Devin play at all this season?

I don't like either one of these guys....

However.....Devin Harris will BANG on you if you underestimate him....Tony will not....

Ding.

Doubtful. Devin Harris and Tony Parker show you how different they are on their drives. Tony Parker is slashing, leaning, and trying to get up circus shots butthat is his game. Devin Harris needs the officials to support the same skillset. Devin initiates contact on his standard jump into the defender attempt tofinish. I guess if he gets calls he can come close, but Parker is a better passer especially on the same dribble penetration skillset.

Devin Harris gets paid like he's Tony Parker though.

Of course his ceiling is higher...he's bigger and more athletic. Skills aside thats something Parker will never have.
