Just not worth it. If she never took steroids she probably wouldn't be the track star she was but she'd still have her reputation and a decent amountof money.

Man, this !%%+ is getting out of hand. Athletes being threatened with jail and going to jail for lying to grand jurys about steriod usage (they aint evenslangin the juice), but our president is still the president even though he knowlingy lied to the world about there being WMDs in Iraq.

Our priorities asa nation are extremly %!*@%% up.

she shoulda kept her mouth shut

She woulda had better luck if she stuck with basketball...

bro if you lie to the grand jury under oath you deserve jail time. i dont know how you think she should of gone off free

I harbor no sympathy for her. not one ounce. she made a decision to use the steroids knowing the consequences. and she still chose to use them.
she made her bed, go lay in it

Well one has nothing to do with the other really. It just sounds like the only priorities that are messed up are from those who feel she'sbeing done dirty or being targeted in some unusual way. She lied and while I think receiving jail time for this is just adding insult to injury, she did lie toinvestigators and that's against the law. I hope you can see past your emotion and realize the implications of that. Unless you want to make your own setof rules to live by, but that's not how it works so we're all subject to fall in line in the same manner. She came correct by admitting to her lies andthat's the price you pay when you think you can get one over on the system. It's sad that she has to go to jail, but that's how it is.

i didnt say that her lying was good and that she shouldn't be punished, but c'mon, she took steroids, she didnt sell them. How is it possible for the feds to place such an emphasis on the steroid usage in sports when we live in a country where the currentpresident stole the election (literally) and also lied under oath about a war in which thousands of Americans have died. Why arent they actively pursuingthis? I just find it problematic that the feds spend all this time trying to prosecute athletes over steroid usage, when American kids go hungry every night, healthcare sucks and is unaffordable for many Americans; our education system is going down the drain and we thatcriminally invaded a sovereign nation and ordered the execution of its president.

It actually does have something to do with it. Based on your reasoning, if she lied, then she should be punished. Right? If that is the case for her, itshould be the case for EVERBODY. Nobody should be exempt from that, but we know that isnt the case at all.

I aint trying to hijack the post, but the emphasis and resources that our govt is placing on steriod usage in the private sector is %$++*## amazing. :smh:. Especially when there are far more important things that they need to be taking care of.

C'mon guy. You're making no sense. I'm pissed about national ID cards, tainted food from China and illegal immigration, but it has nothing to dowith this topic, much in the same way your arguments have nothing to do with Jones lying to the Feds. I got a parking ticket the other day too. The damngov't should be out getting the bad guys and not me for putting a quarter into the parking meter. That's what you sound like. One thing shouldn'tdetract from the other or shouldn't be the reason to not obey the law.

What dont you understand? She lied, she got jail time. The president lied with much larger implications, no jail time. In my original post, isay, how are they (the feds) gonna worry about steroid usage, when their boss lied to get his job, lied to keep his job and lied about a war. Yet, instead ofthem following up on and prosecuting that (GW's lying), they spend our hard earned tax dollars investigating athletes who use steroids. You dont think thatis a misplaced priority? That is all im saying....if you cant see that, then you just want to argue.

The main thing she went to jail for was the check fraud. I wish she wouldn't have gotten time but you do the crime you do the time. She probably wont do 6months. Probably 3 if that.

YO! I'm deeply saddened by all of this. I've always been a huge fan of hers. She was a freshman on the Tarheels 1994 women's nat'l title team.Just sad. DF!!!

At least she's able to rest at night.

Something had to be up the way she was winning gold like it was nothing that year.

You really think a sitting President is ever going to be prosecuted for anything? It doesn't work like that.

You mentioned things like starving kids, poor healthcare, and a poor education system. What does that have to do with people who broke the law? The feds whoinvestigated Jones don't have anything to do with the issues you mentioned.

As for steroids being a major issue for the government, don't buy into that. Media coverage time doesn't equate to time, money, or manpower spent ona case. It's like when Mike Vick was being prosecuted. Everybody was saying things along the lines of "don't the feds have something better todo?", like the entire federal government was focused on the Mike Vick case and nothing else.

That's a damn shame.

Last year she only had 2G's to her name and was forced to sell her mother's home. What is going to be left when she gets out? How the mighty havefallen.

you cant even respect her know. it really is shame. why did she talk? jrellcuse whats this about she only had 2G's to her name?

I think Marion's sentence was overkill. If the sentence is for check fraud, I think it's more justifiable but many people have been convicted of checkfraud and have never seen the inside of a jail cell. As far as steroids, look at professional bodybuilding...every last singe one of them is juicedup...walking around looking like comic book characters! When was the last time the Feds made an effort to bring the down?? Never. So that just leaves Marionlying and BIG DEAL...everybody lies and people have told much worse lies than she did and again...they never saw the inside of a jail cell. I dislike the waythey just pick and choose when the enforce laws and who they're going to enforce them on. The laws should apply to everyone the exact same way...enoughwith this picking and choosing crap.

Also, Marion losit her 5 medals, her records were wiped from the books, she was humiliated, she's broke as hell...it's probably a pretty safe bet thatshe's truly sorry for what she did and the only thing she has left is her family. There's really no need to try to continue to punish her. But ifserving 6 months will get people to#+#*! and get off her back then it's probably worth it for her. What she did was wrong but she's human and we allmess up...she got caught (her competition didn't).

After losing her nike endorsement and having to give back a bunch of prize money she was dead broke last year. She even had to sell her mother'shouse.

I was watching the news and the judge said he gave her the max because he wanted to make an example out of her.

I know what she did was wrong but I do feel bad for her. I hope she can get on her feet sooner then later. It just seems like nothing good is going to come outof this.

So true Marion isn't a bad person she just made a mistake. Maybe if judges were as harsh on Brittney Spears, Lindsay L, etc they wouldn't get inso much trouble.
