I don't know if anyone saw this on Inside The Nba last night, but Charles and Kenny were talking about how Rasheed Wallace should be the best player inthe league... They were basically saying that if he had the mindset of maybe a Kobe, Lebron, etc... to strive to be the greatest player on the court everynighthe could be easily...

I don't know if he'd be the best....but I always thought sheed should be at least a top 5 player in the league... Like charles wassaying..there's never been a player in the league that was 7 foot..could post up & shoot 3's...the closest is Dirk but Sheed is way better on theblock than Dirk...not to mention Sheed is one of the better defensive players in the league...

Last night was the first time he had 25 * 15 since 2005.... There's no way it should be that long...He should be averaging 20 & 10 with ease...Randolph does it on the Knicks...Your tellin me Sheed can't do it too...

i agree, if he cared enough he wouldn't let his talent go to waste like he does.

still a good player though obviously.

i agree with everything they said, we dont see many 6'10 players that can do what he does. he has all the inside game a big man needs and has range fordays from the outside. he is also great on the defense end.

like charles said if he could keep his mind right for a whole season he could do it but he cant

I'd buy into that.

In Rasheed's defense, he is surrounded by a great cast, but he could be one of the best ever if he really wanted to be.

I saw them talking about it too. I don't think they said that he should be the best player in the league. They were saying that if he had the mindset to,he could be more dominant and be like a 20-10 guy every night.

I agree that he could be very dominant if he wanted, but the Pistons play such a team game that no one's stats will ever really stand out. If they tried toput the focus on Sheed, they wouldn't be as successful as they have been.

I was going to make a thread about this too, when i heard charles say this i was shocked but it makes sense when you think about it. he does make a validpoint. he can shoot over anyone in the post and when he is on, he is a very good three point shooter.

but yea he will never et close cause of his attitude. but yes ^^^ he should be averaging 20 and 10 EASY

I agree. But with the system they have in Detroit, he doesn't have to score crazy like that. Chauncy, Tayshaun, Rip can all score so Sheed doesn'thave to. Plus, they have Maxiel, McDyess and others on the bench that can provide scoring. I'm not a fan of the Pistons at all, but I have much respectfor Rasheed's game.

when he was in college, dean smith had to continually remind the guards that rasheed was shooting 60% a game and to get the ball to him.

he was content to let stackhouse dominate the ball and just get his here and there.

same could be said for several other players..... I agree that Rasheed (particularly on the Blazers) really had and still has the talent, but he is toounselfish to take over consistently... plus he has had good teammates surrounding him, in Portland & now Detroit.....

That's the truth....same with Derrick Coleman

Randolph's stats are so skewed it isn't even funny....Zach Randolph is one of the LAST guys I would want on my team...he may get 20/10, but he jacks upa lot of shots (bad shots), and at times is the killer of any sort of momentum that his team may garner due to his "me me me" attitude....

Take Ronni Turiaf's passion, motor, and drive, and put it in Rasheed Wallace's body and talent, and you have the top PF in the league, no question.

He could easily be top 5 in the league or better if he cared since day 1.

He was the Natl. Player of the year in HS but he didn't even lead his team in points....thats all you need to knowright there. He isn't about attention and hype and all that, he is happy being good enough (which some people say is stupid, but it's just hispersonality, he is laid back and chill and from everything I have heard he could give two$+$!#% about the NBA, and what he really loves is his wife, his kids, and his charity)

I remember him saying he didn't want to be an All Star in 05' cause he was going to have to cancel his vacation, dude just.... doesn't care aboutall the extra stuff. I think he wants to win, and could care less what his numbers are if that is the case.

Look at all the weight he put on since Portland, or the fact that he never has bothered to work his body (he isn't fat, but hes certainly not cut, and youcan tell why. Imagine him in the weight room with Ben Wallace, Ben all serious and screamin, Sheed more than likely making fun of him, or screwing with somerookies.

). Dwight Howard came into the league and decided to change hisbody (I saw him say he could do 185 eight times at draft camp and now he maxes at 385), Sheed never bothered, he was happy with what he got.

And when you watch him KILL people on the block (usually against SA, I think he always wants to show Tim he can do it too), or slaughter people after he getspissed off, you can tell he COULD do it all game, but he doesn't want all the attention, and wants to see his teammates do well. So he walks down court, spots up for 3 at the top of the arc, and waits most of the time. Its just how he is, hes a dominant talent withoutthe urge to dominate.

Its just how he is I guess, people will #%$+# about it, but he could care less, hes still a multiple All Star and he has a ring, so he didn't waste his talent, he just never used it to dominate like he could.

YES.

I've always looked at Rasheed Wallace and seen a guy with the body and talent to dominate the present NBA game. It's the mental deficiencies that allowRasheed to be his own worst enemy. When Rasheed is failing, it's almost never because anyone is stopping him, but rather Rasheed stopping himself.

If Rasheed could tackle and defeat his own mind games, he would be better than Tim Duncan. He can guard the low post. He can take anyone in the low post. Hecan screen. He can make free throws. He gets to the line. He finishes at the rim. He blocks shots. He has good hands. He can hit the three point shot. Whatother player in NBA history has this skill set?

Everyone knows Rasheed has a huge heart off the court too. He's a likeable guy. He really looks out for kids. He tries to make new players feel welcomewith the team. He wants to be friends with everyone on the roster.

Rasheed Wallace is the reverse mirror image of Dennis Rodman.

I guess he could be a great player. But, there is no indication he has ever had the desire to be that great.

honestly,i was just thinkin about this the other day, dude is so talented. if you really watch him on the pistons, the only time he really wants to score is whenthe player he's guarding does a nice move on him. then rasheed comes back, posts him up and scores with ease,or he'll pop a 3. dude just paces himselfwell so he doesnt get tired during the season. his interior D is also one of the best in the league. if he had to do all the scoring on some scrub team im surehe'd put up 25 and 11 easy.

Sheed is THE BEST TEAMMATE in the league probably. Nobody is loved more by his peers. Players also talk about how Sheed on the low block is LITERALLYunguardable. His extension, elevation and touch are a nightmare to even attempt to defend on that turn around he does. It's borderline criminal to have ago-to move like that. He just doesn't have that intangible fuse that makes him crave to murder people and that's why he isn't in the same categorywith TD and KG. But talent-wise? Yeah he's got it all...

Sheed, in a sense, reminds me of Damon Wayans in Great White Hype....

Like charles was saying..there's never been a player in the league that was 7 foot..could post up & shoot 3's

skill wise, Sheed aint seein' DC. DC was worse than Sheed when it came to puttin it up night in and night out.

i cant agree more with whats already been said. Sheed is one of the most talented players the association has ever seen

Folks have been saying this for years about Sheed.

Yup I've been saying this for a long long time. He is ridiculously talented and can get his shot off over just about anybody because he is so long. Hecould bea top 5 player in the league if he was in the right system andhad the mindset.

BTW while I don't believe he is as skilled as Sheed I also think Drew Gooden could easily be a 20-10 guy.

Chuck and Jet are always right.

He could be the best player in the leauge, if he had the drive to do so.

On that team, he doesn't have to average 20-10. The Pistons' track record this decade since he was traded there speaks for itself. If he dominated likehe did in Portland, Detroit wouldn't have gone to five straight (and probably six straight now) Eastern Conference Finals.

That being said, I think he's easily the best player on that team. He makes life so much easier for the rest of the Pistons because of his inside-outsideversatility.

the thing is that Sheed never dominated in portland eiher. he was very good with is best season statistically in 01-02, (19 and

but he easily, and i meaneasily could have at least been putting up 25 and 12 for most of his career if he cared enough to put in the effort.

sure he looks as if he's unselfish but it's just so he can can play hard when he feels like it. not playing to the best of your abilities is selfishtoo.

his turn around jumper was unstoppable and could have been the stuff of legends.

instead, well, he's just sheed.
