Roughly 12 hours before Latrell Scott was introduced as Tennessee's new wide receivers coach on Saturday morning, two of his troops were arrested for marijuana possession.

According to The Knoxville News-Sentinel, wide receivers Gerald Jones and Ahmad Paige were cited following a simple traffic stop at 10:41 Friday night in the Fort Sanders area of Knoxville. Police stopped the vehicle because the license light was not functioning. Then, detecting the scent of marijuana, the officers found roughly 1½ joints in the vehicle. Jones, who was driving the vehicle, also was cited for not wearing a seat belt.

Jones, a rising sophomore from Oklahoma City, and Paige, a redshirt freshman from Monroe, La., were arrested on misdemeanor possession charges and later released. Two occupants of the car, redshirt freshman lineman William Brimfield of Norway, S.C., and Jameel Owens of Oklahoma City, reportedly were not charged with any wrong-doing. Owens is a high school standout who reportedly was making his official visit to the UT campus.

Jones and Paige were two of the highest-profile players in Tennessee's 2007 signing class. Jones wound up seeing considerable action as a freshman last fall, even prompting the coaches to install a "G-Gun package" that featured him lining up as a direct-snap tailback.

Jones finished the 2007 season with 11 catches for 111 yards (10.1 yards per reception) and eight rushes for 58 yards (7.2 per carry). He scored one touchdown receiving and two more rushing. His best receiving performance came in Game 12 at Kentucky, when he caught two passes for 20 yards, including an acrobatic touchdown grab. His best outing as a rusher came a week later against LSU in the SEC Championship Game, when he carried twice for 39 yards

Fresh, U smokin same #$+% them boys smokin if u think Fat Phil is gonna dismiss his best WR for next season

Big difference between raymond Henderson and Gerald Jones

"I am extremely disappointed in these young men and the decision they made," Fulmer said. "This is an example of youth and stupidity by boys that need to become men and not make stupid and irrational decisions trying to impress each other. I have met with all three players individually, and they understand that this behavior will not be tolerated. They have a number of things they need to do to get back in our good graces, including performing community service with a drug rehabilitation facility, participating in police ride-alongs and more frequent drug tests. They also will be prohibited from hosting recruits for one year."
