The Tennessee Titans fired offensive coordinator Norm Chow after three seasons with the team, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Tuesday.

The Titans finished the regular season 10-6 and suffered a 17-6 loss to the San Diego Chargers in the first round of the playoffs. They finished 10th in the AFC in total yards.

Chow, who was previously the offensive coordinator at USC, was interviewed for UCLA's head coach opening in December but withdrew his name from consideration. The Bruins went on to hire Rick Neuheisel.

Can't really say it's his fault.

Give VY some better WR's, and the offense would do better.

Not that it would happen, but when was the last time an OC from college jumped to the pros... got clipped, then got offered the same position he left incollege (at the same school for that matter)?

Not that I see him back at Troy or anything, but just curious if it's ever happened...

Yea true, but it always seemed like he helped limit the offense too

I think Hodges or whatever VY called him had it right on at least this year. I think Young limited the offense moreso than Chow. I would like tosee what he could do with a capable qb and skill players.

Yeah, go for it.

Screw that run first offense that Wishenhunt is running.

You got Fitz and Boldin on the outside.

Just air it out.

I heard that Slick Rick wanted him at UCLA even before he got fired.

VY is capable.... offense was not. finally Chow is gone i thought he'd he fired sooner. it wasn't a good fit from the beginning i.e. draft day. bringsomeone that is younger with a fresh mind on how to give VY freedom to improvise without losing a balanced attack. MEMO: Titans get VY some help i.e. WRs andMichael Turner!!

The person who limited the Titans offense the most was Jeff Fisher. He's way too conservative. I'm sure if Chow had his way the offense would have atleast tried to move down field.

titans are good at RB. they invested two second round picks two years in a row in lendale white and chris henry. doubt they would spend big free agentbucks on michael turner, especially considering that lendale white produced this past season.

How Come Fisher wasnt labeled " too conservative" when he had Mike Heimendinger (sp) as OC?

*edit
dwai, U think the TItans are good at RB?
Henry was such a reach in the 2nd round and basically him and LenDale are the same straight ahead, no shake type RB.
They need someoen that gives them a diff look then the previous RB that was in the game. Like Freed & MJD or Chester & AD or Jacobs & Bradshaw

Man this doesn't surprise me at all....... NC never wanted Vince there in the first place and he damn sure didn't know how to utilize him...Basicallythey didn't mesh...

Sad part is White has more shake then Henry and i aint talking about his belly either.

I never liked the fit from day one. I think playing with the cuffs on for a while was good for Vince though in the long run. Hope they get someone that willplay to his strengths better and maybe some WR that can catch easy passes they are pathetic.

Because Fisher wasn't as scared of Mac as he is of VY. Fisher has always been the same though. Pound the ball all day long. We didn't evenknow that VY could throw the ball, until we got behind big in the 2nd jags game.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think this is necessarily a bad move. Volek and McNair had trouble with Chow's offense. I'd love to seeHeimerdinger back.

well, i should've used another word, but i don't think they spend free agent money on a back. even though he was a reach, they still investedsecond round money on two backs. with the amount of backs in the draft this year, if they feel like getting another back i think they go in the draft.

i was just more or less going by the notion that i don't think they give up on two second round picks too soon. i don't like chris henry myself and ithought he was the ultimate workout warrior reach that wasn't picked by the eagles or jaguars on draft day. but i just feel that if the titans get arunning back, they get a cheap complementary back in free agency or someone in the draft [which is DEEP at running back with all these declarations], not a guylike michael turner who essentially runs straight ahead like the backs they already have.

maybe the titans get your favorite back gunna..

steve slaton.

as much as I dislike Slaton's heart and desire, his exact skill set is what is needed in tennessee

Did I just type that ?

Get a couple of receivers that are worth a damn, and a RB with any type of speed, and that offense will be fine.

at least you can take solace in that you're not really complimenting slaton, you're just identifying what the titans need.
