I ask this because im sitting here watching the The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and in the intro, when Will is spinning upside down in the chair, his MetalicV's didnt have a jumpman on the tounge,

so it made me wonder.Thanks.

i highly doubt will would rock a fake kick...

I know about the copyright issues, but that shoe doesn't look like it was edited. Now if you said the shoe tounge was cut off and replaced with a fake onethen thats believable.

Fakes appeared for the first time around 1997-1999.

I believe that would answer your wondering...
Fresh Prince show ended in 1996, which should have ended filming around 1995.
I don't think Will Smith was able to wear fakes back then even if he wanted to.

As for the first pair that being faked, I don't have the answer for that.
My smart guess is XI, because it had a very high demand.

They faked OG 1's in white/red/black w/ arrow logos and what not....

Nike/JB has had AMPLE time to handle fakes.

I found them, but can we count these as being the first fakes, since the look is so far off and no use of a jumpman? If thats the case we should be talkingabout shaqs as being the major knock off brand. In fact i saw some shaqs that looked excatly like the 22 the other day.

Thats my guess from the searches i have done so far. I'm guessing there was an knock off cement IV that started this full blown outrage, due to itbeing the shoe that Jordan wore when he won the dunk contest, and from there everybody wanted to be like Mike.

Aren't those Ponys up there, not fake 1s? There is a difference between making fakes and just aping a basic design. Those really don't have the sameelements the 1s have. For example where is the forefoot overlay?

The first ones that were heavily faked were the 13, 14 and 15 as far as I'm aware. There were plenty of fake 11's early this decade but only after theretros came out.

Yeah those are City Wings.

I guess the 1's that got faked weren't replicated exactly as we see today, so it doesn't count per se.

The XI's at the start of 2000 were entirely outta control.

The shoes above are called City Wings. I said that to myself in my head when I saw the pick, but I think theres a slight difference from those and thePony's

If you're thinking of the one slam dunk contest from the free throw line. He was wearing

the white / cement III's. As for Will, I thought the fresh prince wore fakes.
EDIT: I meant to write doubt not thought. I don't know why Ispelled doubt t-h-o-u-g-h-t. Maybe because I had just woke up

Your right. Good catch.

the first ones i recall seeing were xv's right around the time they came out. there were so many fakes of those.

They faked the black/gold I's, and they did a pretty damn good job at it. They took a major step backward from there. I am not sure if they faked muchtill the XI's after that. The XI's that were faked shortly after the original release were blantantly fake. As some one above me mentioned theystared to fake the XIII's a little more heavily and then they went nuts with the XIV's. From there it has been all down hill.

anyone remember those magic johnson shoes that were supposed to look like xi's?
