Anyone remember when the guy posted a confession of his fake sneaker business here on NT, talkin about how he flew to CHINA paid the factory guys $5000 upfront just to meet up. Dood was bringing in like $100,000+ all over the net, riding some high class whip.

i was going to post this. that was the most interesting thread I've seen on here. he was a young dude making bank. pretty cool story, should havebeen archived.

Also, those knockoffs with the arrows, those were sold at kmart (maybe tom mc can) and i'm pretty sure the brand was Traxx...lol. good stuff, i wishI'd have picked up a pair. Closest I cam was a friend in 8th grade who had knock off Top Tens that Fava was making. they might have been roos b/c i thinkthey had a pocket on the side.

The first "actual" faked shoe (with Jordan, not some random company) were the XIV's in early '98...I remember they used to be all overVintageUSA.com and Ebay

Can anyone elaborate on the seller who made a large amount of $ and posted his story? I find this very interesting. A shame I missed this.

Ok, i'm seeing all this about the XIV being the first actual fake, I came across this fake IV yesterday after searching on this topic and it surely isnot a counterfiet of the retro. Look at the footwork in the background.

basically he was selling on ebay if i remember correctly. don't remember what the numbers were but he said he bought a 70k benz and was really modest aboutthe whole thing so he seemed legit.. he posted a couple years ago . he had recently quit because competition got crazy as too many people discovered themarket, his margins were getting squeezed on both sides. it may also have been the case that the chinese factories were selling direct on ebay skipping themiddle man (him).

thats all i can remember. it's a pretty standard story.... new market discovered...biz is booming....more people find out and try to get in on it...profitsshrink.

Same here. What year was this?

Worst comedy of the week!
Pony = Fake Jordans?? LOL.
Pony or "SANG", if that's the name, has almost the same exact design as the Air Jordan I, it's because they copy Nike's design withoutusing their trademarked swoosh..

The first fakes were created around 1997-1998. The guess that make most sense for the question is XIII or XIV.
And no, they are not counterfeit of original. I believe the picture is taken in a Asian country, more specifically China as that's the place where thebiggest number of counterfeit were made.
For your information, Asian countries still wear those canvas shoes and it is kind of a trend, courtesy of Converse.

im not gonna lie there are more fake jordans than real ones at my school...pretty sad, and they dont even kno it

Shed some light on yall from what I know.....
I clearly remember when OG 12's were out. I saw many of fake jordans. At school, mainly at the flea market.
They were NOT sig ripoff's. They were generic looking shoes with jumpmans all over em.
I remember to this day my homie (with OG wht/red 12's) and I clowning on this kid with fake J's!!!
I felt bad after of course but I remember seeing his same pair at the flea market some time later, and a whole flock of other fakes to go with it!

i'm not sure which jays were the first one to be faked. what i'm sure about is, that it's neither the xiii's nor the xiv's. not even thexii's. i know this for a fact because when i had the OG black/red xi's back in '95, i already saw guys wearing fakes in my college. these are socalled class A imitations and were from china. i asked some guys wearing them and asked how much they copped their pair. most said around 2,500 philippinepesos (around US$ 70 at that time). from the price, i knew then, that they were fakes. coz i bought mine around 4,500 philippine pesos (around US$ 121 at thetime and i believe xi's retailed for US$ 125 in the US).

I am in the military I know overseas fakes are everywhere. I was station in Korea 90-91 and 95-96 not just Jordan's all name band shoes was counterfeited. So oversea's who knows in the USA I have no idea.

I didn't notice it until the OG 9's dropped

I remember the OG's had a rubber red circle at the heel and the fakes had a metal one that would turn silver due to the red paint peeling off

Then the 10's which looked very real because the 10's don't have much on them to begin with

I remember that because my friends sister had the OG's and her dad made fun of his friend for having the fakes in the same color of his daughters shoe

Ironically, it was the Shadows that are out today

I asked to stop there cuz I was gonna get some heat for cheap. I was like 12 yrs old but still. Anyways so my sister and I run out the van with the biggestgrins on our faces. You'd think we were at DisneyWorld or something. I run up to a table and my face goes from

I was soooo mad. They all looked pretty real. They just said AIR on them instead of swooshes. I was sorely dissappointed. LOL

"I know about the copyright issues, but that shoe doesn't look like it was edited. Now if you said the shoe tounge was cut off and replaced with afake one then thats believable." LMAO, bro they edited the jumpman off the shoe, its not difficult. In regards to the first Jordans being faked who reallyknows, and as far as those Jordan I's with the arrow on the side, those are not fakes, they did not have the Nike Logo on the side, they were just acompany like Bape that wripped off the design of the shoe, if you shopped at FAVA in the 80's they had a cheap copy of every Jordan for about 20-30 bucksin that store starting with the Jordan I's, and going to about the Jordan IV's, but they were NOT fakes. I would have to say the first fakes I saw werein 1997-98 (as someone has stated earlier) with the Jordan XIII's, it was a comical Knock off but a knockoff nonetheless. For all the NEW YORK people thatare old enough to remember, BUSY BEE MALL, I picked up a pair of blatantly fake XIII's and laughed at them with my boy, only to have the sales person comeover to me and go, those are sold out sorry there are no more they were a hot item!!!!! LMAO memories..........

i remember ii took time out to print and cut out pictures off of coolkicks.com and ii had a whole fake collage on my wall (gucci 7's , louis 11's ) ithought they were soooo exclusive! i even went to school and bragged about my collage and invited people over to come see it! smh ..good ol' days
