Yea okay, then Mike Conley and his long jumpin pops can go race the group that are really fastest and most atlhetic positions in the NFL, the WRs and CBs, notthe RBs.

Mind you that I went to HS with Mike and Greg. You couldn't drag them dudes onto the track. They would run that mile random days while we were out on thetrack practicing. I'd destroy Mike in any event on the track and I'm not going to be in the NBA or NFL anytime soon.

I have to go with the NBA

Im shocked nobody here has took into account that Football players play once a week now I know they take a hellover lot more punishment than the NBA but theyhave a week between games to recover and will most likely be fresh again.

There are some NBA players that are not very athletic at all but Im sure the percentage of NFL players that are not athletic compared to the NBA is muchhigher. The fact is there are some freaks of nature in the NFL but there in the minority of the total players on each team like Rugby big guys protect thebetter athletes.

Alot of NBA players are increadible athletes and most others are good athletes the fact is u have to be in great shape to play basketball its mostly non stopup and down the floor untill u sub out or timeout 4-5 games a week plus travel and still do what these guys do thats tough.

As for Soccer yes you have to be fit but athletic not so much most soccer players arnt its more closed skill and strong legs I grew up playing soccer here inEngland then switched to Basketball aged 12 in soccer u have plenty of rest time when the ball is nowhere near u anybody whos played full court press defencein basketball knows that u have to be in great shape.

Overall for me Basketball is the most athleticly challenging sport as its both upper body and lower body strength, reflexs, speed and allot of closed skill.

Peace
Scottie

ok, can we get a list of who some of the top athletes in each sport are

Hoops - Lebron James/Dwight Howard/Nate Robinson/AI ?
Football - Julius Peppers/TO/Moss/Antonio Gates/Antonio Cromartie ?
Baseball - Carl Crawford/ joe Mauer ?

and the hugest myth about football is that a roster is comprised of half or mostly are fat lineman. go Look up nfl rosters. It is simply not the case. mostteams have more DBs and LBs than any other position. so on a full roster of around 55 pplayers, u have @ 15-17 total fat lineman, and out of those fat dudes, 6or 7 have an incredible amount of athleticism.

NOUN:
A person possessing the natural or acquired traits, such as strength, agility, and endurance, that are necessary for physical exercise or sports, especially those performed in competitive contexts.

i'll take the underdog and say basketball players are more athletic. yes its amazing to see a 280 lb man w/ blazing speed, but to me watching VC do a 360 off of the wrong foot is phenomenal. but i'm partial to basketball. also, i think its a different type of athleticism
your an idiot.

I don't think everybody is interpreting the question the same way in terms of what sort of athleticism we're speaking of, and if you're talkingabout the leagues as a whole or just the top 1 percent.

Either way I think the NFL has the edge, but depending how you look at it, it may not be an open and shut case for somebody else.

I'll try to do some that weren't named

Baseball:

Jody Gathright, Grady Sizemore, Mike Hampton (no joke)

Basketball:

Gerald Wallace, D12, Rodney Carney

1) Football
2) Hockey
3) Soccer
4) Bball
5) Baseball

Of the major sports of course.

hockey? mehhh... no hockey player has a 40 inch vertical. one of my best friends from childhood plays semi-pro hockey, and he's strong, has good hand-eye coordination, and has good technique with the hockey stick, but that doesn't make him a great overall athlete.

i think its definitely between NFL and NBA, those two are clearly ahead of the other.

I didn't know a 40 inch vertical was the cutoff to be a top athlete...how many nba "athletes" can skate? let alone shoot and pass and check.basketball players can jump high, yes...but highjumpers can jump even higher, are they more atheltic?

you have to look at the game as a whole....hockey players have more endurance (they do just as many sprints in practice, but sprints on ice are tougher thansprints on a court), greater eye hand coordination, and greater agility.

maybe im looking at it the wrong way...

but i'll agree that baseball players on average aren't as athletic as the rest.

When people talk use the worth athleticism they are referring to natural ability that is untrained or trained very little. Like speed, quicknessor strength. Using a hockey stick or skating isnt considered athletic in this post. You can teach anyone to skate in theory. And alot of the most athleticplayers arent the best at their sport. So how good you are at using a stick has nothing to do with how athletic you are. You cannot teach anyone who is 290pounds to run a 4.5-4.6 40 yard dash (Julius Peppers or Mario Williams)

I dont really see how there can be a debate. The NFL wins in almost anyway you slice it. Yes every sport has TOP ATHLETES that are just as athletic as anyathlete in any sport. But from top to bottom the NFL has the highest quality and quanity of athletes in any sport. The LEAST athletic person in the NFL is moreathletic then the LEAST athletic person in any of the other sports. And the Most athletic players in the NFL are just as or more athletic then the cream of thecrop in other sports.

People do not sleep on Hockey players. From top to bottom they have alot of high quality athletes as well. There isnt a big drop off from the most athletic tothe least athletic like you see in Baseball or maybe even basketball

Real talk, lay off the new post button armanza. You stay making these lame hypothetical JB forum esque posts.

I say the NBA because not just any person can just go out there and do what these guys do night in and night out for 82 games.
