T-Mac: "I'd like to give up my All-Star spot to someone more deserving"

Give the starting spot to Iverson, he is the 3rd leading vote getter also he has been putting up excellent numbers this year. If so wouldn't it be Iverson& Kobe in the backcourt starting?!!?

I always wanted to see them on the same team and playing together

Was it just that both were already selected to play, but Vince was supposed to start? So he gave up his starting spot to Jordan so that he could start his final ASG?

i remember that, VC was being a bamma for not giving the starting spot to MJ, then eventually he gave it to him.

The all-star game is just another means of revenue to David Stern and that's why he won't allow his players to excuse themselves from playing. To ayoung boy's eye Stern might be a hero because he might see it as "doing it for the fans" to make the stars play; but in reality, if players likeTMac were allowed to skip the weekend and rest then the all-star game would have to be marketed around no name players. Nobody would pay to see guys like KevinMartin play. That's just not happening.

Article from ESPN:::::Count Tracy McGrady as concerned about the National Basketball Association taking their All-Star Game to New Orleans next season.Concerned enough that the Houston Rockets All-Star may not attend. "If I don't feel like it's going to be safe, if I'm on that team, I willthink about not going," said McGrady as the Houston Rockets were preparing for tonight's match-up with the visiting Toronto Raptors. McGrady wasresponding to questions about last week's All-Star Game in Las Vegas, which has been dogged by reports of threatening and criminal behaviour by fans drawnto the city by the three-day NBA showcase. "That was the first thing I thought about [regarding the game being held in New Orleans next season],"said McGrady. "I thought about how much safety and security there's going to be for the players. I don't think it's the right city right now.Safety has to come first."

.....reading is fundamental homie. I knowyou're a Sacto guy, but the fact that Kevin Martin is good doesn't make him MARKETABLE. Reading comprehension levels get worse every year...

I also remember that he said he might not go because of safety concerns. The reason he is giving now is a bunch of crap. He needs to go and help bring the cityof New Orleans back up.

I dont think he should be starting anyway. Fan voting is a complete joke.

i would have newfound respect for TMac if he did that, he'd be one tiny step closer from reaching Colston status...$tern on the other hand no.

Gotta give T-mac respect for admitting that he didn't deserve that roster spot even though he's a great player he just hasn't been getting it done.I think Iverson would take his spot if Commissioner Stern would allow him to step down from the starting spot.

As a kings fan it would be nice to see kevin martin get a least a slot on the western conference all stars roster but seriously doubt that would happen.

This has actually been discussed before. Stern's not going to allow it unless he really is injured. And to sorta "prove" he's injured, he'd have to miss a game or two before or after the all-star break. If Houston is on the verge of getting somewhere in the standings and T-Mac ISN'T actually injured, do you think the rockets would just let him miss a game for that reason...? Doubt it.

This has come up in past all-star games 'cause a lot of players would prefer to just sit out and relax and heal. But Stern obviously wants them to be in the game. If you could get by on the injury excuse, a lot more players would be declining their invite. There have been a number of players in the past who have stated they didn't care for the game and didn't even want to be there.
Yes,Stern would require his stars to be there, but in this case, nobody(ESP. in New Orleans) wants to see T-Mac..and he has already pretty much dissedthe city..let him sit, because right now he's NOT good PR..Let Paul the hometown hero,or AI,who is 3rd in votes get that starting spot..

If he DOES still have to play, its gonna be Brandon Roy and Deron Williams thats gonna ultimately suffer..CP3,Nash,and AI are gonna make the team no matter what
