[table][tr][td]For the sake of this installment, we have designated teams that are less than $5M under the cap in RED. These are teams that have little money to sign free agents and may need to make cuts or restructure salaries in order to sign all of their draft picks. Note without comment that the only team that is OVER the cap (as of this writing) is the Washington ********! Teams in BLACK, which are between $5M and $20M under the cap, are teams that look to be in pretty good shape in terms of adding more veterans and signing all of their rookies without having to take drastic measures. Teams in GREEN are teams that are well under the cap and should have plenty of room to sign free agents and rookies. Note that for the first time in years, almost every team in is very good cap shape.

With the latest extension to the CBA, the 2008 salary cap is approximately $116 M, which represents a nice increase over last year's estimated $109 M figure. (Note that the cap was "just" $85.5 M in 2005, the final season prior to the CBA's extension and $102 M in 2006 after the CBA extension.)

Keep in mind that these numbers remain tentative -- and are changing on a daily basis. These "unofficial" figures are approximate as of December 27, 2007 and were compiled from various media sources including the NFLPA, ESPN and Sports Illustrated.

Dan Snyder is so impulsive in the offseason.

4 Jacksonville Jaguars $32.69 M
If ya'll don't grab a WR this year,
smh.gif

Is Moss leaving NE? I don't see it happening, bur Garrard sure could use some hands down there...

lol, I live in MD. Shawn Springs hits ghost every offseason so he don't have to restructure.

Skins always find a way of getting around the salary cap....it's the same song and dance every off-season. They just get dudes to restructure, and they aregood to go. Nothin' new LOL....

Springs will most likely be cut as well as Brandon Roid.

^^^ that still doesnt mean they can't call him or his agent
Trust me, they could not find him for nothing for the first half of the last offseason.

Theirs a Washington/Osama/Shawn Springs joke here too but I just can't think of one.

And even after they found dude just up and said no, wouldn't restructure for nothin'.

You better hope not, it always takes Rogers half a season to remember how to play and unless the Skins'

sign or draft somebody that means Bulter steps on the field.

Guarantee he makes your avy once by the end of next season (if you're still doing the sorry cornerback of the week

makes your avy thing).

24 Minnesota Vikings $14.88 M
There are currently 49 players under contract.

they better use some of that money to either grab a DE or a WR...I defintely dont want to draft another DE...

5 Buffalo Bills $32.05 M
There are currently 49 players under contract.

They will be staying this way too

Miami should fire about 45 of those 48 players under contract. I hope Bill pretty much saves most of the money, drafts well, moves a vet out here and thereand then can evaluate and bring in a couple free agents that fill complete needs rather than stop gaps. No more Joey Porters, more like I'd wouldn'tmind seeing Asante Samuel brought in long term. A player that will be around for 6 or 7 years. Samuel will probably be too spendy, I'm only using him asan example.

AJ Smith's formula should be the standard for the free-agency era. Draft well and sign your draftees to long contracts. Just as an example Ilooked up guys like Rivers, Castillo, and Merriman...who are all signed 5 year rookie contracts (if I'm not mistaken). Then you have guys like Cromartie,McNeill, etc. who are probably on 5 year rook contracts, too. Drafting well means a

I want them to draft the best player available, if that's another DE then so be it. Previous draft picks have no influence on me at thispoint.

And it's going to be interesting to see another handful of quality QBs fall to our spot (in the 1st round and probably 2nd round as well) with us not evengiving them a glance. Sink or swim we are in the TJack era and as I have stuck with from the get-go, at this point I am going to go on what I see and what Isee is the position hurting the team - with no plan B in place.

For the Vikings though, WR is realisticly the key spot this entire offseason.

Rogers was playing some great football before he got hurt in NE....also, Smoot was playing out of his mind towards the last 6-7 games of the season...thatbeing said, I do agree that the skins need to do SOMETHING to keep Butler off of the field. I think they will look for a CB at some point in the draft or geta nickel back through FA.....
