Anyone Remember this (KG ESPN piece from 95 + bonus vid)

dudes a bust

Whether you're Skip Bayless or not, KG's passion for the game is undeniable, as is his skill set and versatility.

Big Country Reeves could barely piece together a sentence. . .

You know a lot of people are sitting here bashing Zeke for his idea of only letting KG play home games but I truly believe that Zeke, in this instance wasreally trying to look out for KG. I know that Kevin had been on his own but living by yourself, traveling and all the money he was going to accquire, that isjust a whole different way of living. You gotta remember, at this time when Kevin was drafted it was monumental that he was coming straight out of highschool.

I never knew that

Hey kid, FYI, 41 games and few away games while enrolling him to a college during that time is very very nice offer.
In fact, it's an offer that hard to turn down.

Don't talk down to me like that punk. This is KG we're talking about. He was living on his own for the past year or two raising his sister by himself in the inner city of chicago. I think he could handle the road, is all i was saying.

If you were supporting yourself and your sister while you're in high school, I bet you with my neck that you'll accept that damn offer, PUNK.
I am sure he could handle it, BUT I'M MORE SURE THAT HIS LIFE AND HIS SISTER'S WOULD BE MUCH BETTER IF HIS INCOME COMES FROM THE NBA.
If you no nothing about earning money, don't talk as if you know every single thing about money and life.
If you were him, I bet you'd be in jail now, trying to steal some pies and water from 7-eleven.

Take a look at a mirror and you'll see the real punk, smart guy.

damn. straight fire. let him go to college I guess. was that the year the Raps got Damon Stoudamire.

you can bet your**$% if you want, but you still don't get it. I never said anything about him not going to the NBA. I said he could handle playingthe full schedule. you're the one who seems to disagree. Nice try, but why don't you buy some hooked on phonics and try again.

indohan and the PGA Tour- You've both e-flexed to each other. You've both called each other punk. You've both decided that being disrespected online is very important to you, and you've both e-stood up to theother person's e-disrespect. Awesome. I suggest you decide now to either let it go or apply for a new name.

Garnett?

This dude is so intense.

And after watching that Zeke offer, I vaguely remember that, because I vaguely remember having some of the discussion going on in this thread, particularlyabout how great of a deal that was. Playing 41 home games would knock out the worry of a young high schooler not being able to play with grown men immediately;you transition. Pay for college gives him something else to fall back on, in the event that this high school phenom hits the NBA... and fails miserably.

Like someone already mentioned, this was pre-Kobe, pre-Tracy, pre-Lebron, pre-D. Howard, pre-Bynum, pre-Amare, pre-Josh Smith; heck, the only precedents peoplehad to go on at THAT time were Daryl Dawkins and Shawn Kemp.

It was a very risky thing, but I do remember how much praise Garnett was getting. Not as much as LeBron got his senior year, with ESPN airing so many ofSVSM's home games, but there is a MAJOR reason for that: by the time LeBron came around and there was all this hype surrounding a high school phenom, wehad already had a NUMBER of people come through the league with no college experience, and Garnett was one of them. So it was like, it was o.k. to cheer forthe kid and watch his HS games, because there really and truly was a chance he could be great. But with Garnett, there were only two examples, so people weremore hesitant to follow the hypebe.

All those bums commenting on KG they should've worried about what they were going to do in the league.

I can try on something else.... UNDERSTANDING YOUR "GREAT" SKILL OF WRITING and FIGURING OUT YOUR "your**$%"!
Oh that's right, profanities are not allowed here.
Welcome to NT.

And Ska, my bad. This kid showed me no manner and I slipped up.

^ *warned*

The first one was an unofficial warning; apparently you ignored it and thought that if you got the last word in to PGA, you'd be good, as long as you toldme 'My bad!'

Well, you were wrong. And if you already made your reply and THEN you saw what I said, so you went back and edited, adding 'My bad!' to your reply, then you were still wrong, becuase you should have just edited out your whole reply. Clearly you two don't know how to disagree without beingdisrespectful, so I asked that you drop it; he did, you didn't. He took the first warning, which counted for nothing, and stopped going at you.

You still responded to him, so this warning counts against you.

I repeat: I suggest you decide now to either let it go or apply for a new name.
