The Boston Globe has reported that the agent for Minnesota swingman Gerald Green has asked Timberwolves' vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale and general manager Jim Stack to trade his client.

Green will make $1.4 million this year, and Minnesota opted to decline his option for next season.

He will become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

i really he can be a star in the league, but if you can't even get consistent playing time in minnesota...

i thought he was going to be a star in minnie. but if you can't improve your game and get consistent playing time in minnesota's current roster, howwill you be able to do so with a team full of better players?

They prolly want to roll with Brewer anyways, trade him to the Rocs, consolation for giving up Rudy

I was watching a little bit of that game last night and one of the announcers said that Minny wasn't keeping him for financial reasons. They've gotother guys they'd rather wait for to develop.

come on now, you're not even an all-star and you demand trade?

He didn't demand one, he asked for one. There's nothing wrong with that. Everyone wants to play and he isn't getting any playing time there.

He has potential, but he won't get anywhere with the Wolves. I wouldn't mind him on the Rockets or Mavs, because I hate the fact that Eddie Jones isour starting SG.

Dude only plays like 10 minutes and puts up 2 points, and sits out the rest of the minutes.

Gerald Green starting as a Mav is simply

.

Yeah I was also watching the game and heard the same thing as Holden. Green just isn't getting the playing time he thinks he deserves and I think his gamein Boston yesterday showed that he does still have that raw potential. I hope the Celtics can re-sign him and Ryan Gomes next year. That'd be

Ryan Gomes NEEDS to be back in Boston next year though, no question

I thought it was ridiculous to decline a 2 million option on a young asset like Green is.

Now we will get next to nothing for acquiring him.

That was a dumb move by McHale...argh

dude plays ZERO defense. i know he has shown flashes on the offensive end but maybe the wolves execs just think he will not amount to anything. i wish we wouldhave kept him too but it seems that mccants/brewer/gomes will be our swingmen of the future

Didn't you know McHale is probably the worst GM of the 4 major sports. He still wears his Celtics jersey under his work clothes.

yeah...he's got a lot of potential. damn nice shot too...which i didn't even know he had.

i think they'll trade him before the deadline.

It's WAY too premature to have Gerald starting in Dallas.

He's got great potential, is a raw athlete and can get to the basket, but he gets lost in the flow of the game on set plays and doesn't fullyunderstand how to move without the ball and what the options off a set are.

Something I just DO NOT understand about McHale. Why would you not pick up his option, and on top of that NOT trade him? If anything, you can get another youngplayer in return, or if cap space is your worry, you can trade for an expiring contract 15% higher than that of Gerald's deal that several teams would bewilling to do to take a chance on Gerald. That way, you'd save MORE money.

Letting him walk is about the worst option you could go with. Get more cap relief or a late 1st Rounder or something.

And for Gerald's sake...I really do hope he pulls it together and doesn't have an unfulfilled career like the way JR Smith's is heading. Too muchpotential.

Completely agree... But this is probably a great chance for Dallas to get the big SG with sky-high potential they've been looking for...

Why would anyone want to trade assets for the Shocker when they can scoop up him for next to nothing this summer?

I feel bad for Gerald though. He's a good kid. Unfortunately, being a good kid doesn't equate into being a good basketball player. Dude has a verylow basketball IQ. Never mind that he doesn't play defense (if you watched last year's summer league, he was making very big strides). It's onthe offensive end where he's a liability. Dude stands there and waits for the ball to be passed to him. I used to yell at the TV last year, where I'dsee Gerald literally stand in one spot for 20 seconds of each possession, hoping the ball would come to him. Guy is clueless.

If anything, the trade request is probably coming at the advice of his agent. His agent knows that if Gerald can get PT somewhere, he can showcase his"talents" in the hopes of a bigger payday.

Yall hammering dude for having no basketball IQ like he's not a kid outta high school having spent his first 3 years on two terrible basketball teams withterrible basketball coaches... How much are you going to learn playing sparce minutes for bad coaches?
