Now that Gerald is officially a contestant in the upcoming Slam Dunk Contest, where he'll be defending his title from last year, here's a look also atwhat'll be on his feet -- the new Reebok ATR Vertical III.

Here's an excerpt from an interview I did with GG when we were at Rbk in Boston...

Hoyle: I understand this year you're hoping to defend and got some tricks ready?
Gerald:The 540 is a dunk I'm trying to do, that I'm gonna try and open up with! It's never been done before. I've hit it a couple times, but I'm not really sure if I can get it on a consistent basis. I'm doing it off vertical though!
Hoyle: Hold up. Vertical?
Gerald: Yeah, I'm excited to defend, and maybe make history. I can be the first player to win on two teams.

Should be exciting to see if he can pull that off and defend.

"Twice as Nice" along the heel as well as a How-To for the 540. Good luck.

I liked his all green reeboks better. I really used to like reebok, and although Hexalite didn't do much, I can't believe that they aren't reallyusing any new cushion tech lately. DMX foam doesn't really do anything.
^^^That midsole isn't new tech is it? It's just cut different right?
So, is that 540 a hint on what dunk we might see?!!! (nevermind).

i think that 540 diagram is a nice touch. never woulda thought of that myself!

I have stuck with Reebok on some releases just from loyalty from the mid-80's and the first Blacktop craze, and to me these look like a definite stepup. The Answer's from 8 to now are all good shoes, and the first ATR Verticals Prof. K reviewed were good also. I don't know for sure what the FlightChassis is or how the cushion feels, but I am about to order the Wht/Orange/Blk and see. I have high hopes.
 
I like these. I swear they resemble a shoe that was in the Kicksguide artist contest though. I am trying to find it.

..The Vert. is just a hot shoe, but this makeup is especially flavors.The gradient design is wild. I need to find a way to grab these...

i would hope he at least tries the 540. it would look rather dumb to have it on your shoe and not even try it.
 
Great pics, Hoyle!

These are a step up from what the ATR line has been doing the past few years...hopefully a sign of things to come.
 
Is there any way we could obtain these? Reeboks are usually slept on so if they are in fact released I should be able to get 'em.
 
Wow, I REALLY don't like the lace holes. Blech. I'm a fan of the color blocking and gradient effect, but the actual color is boring.
 
those type of lacing systems make it crease something terrible. Anyways, Billy any chance u want those And1s back? I really really appreciate it, but I worethem just to one class the other day and just don't like them as much on my feet as holding them in my hands looking at them, the traction of course beingmy main issue. Get at me
