GLENDALE, ARIZ. - One media day question to Randy Moss that sparked an interesting answer was, "Who do you think is the greatest receiver in NFL history?"

Moss' response: "The greatest receiver to ever play? Um, it was Jerry Rice. I think by the record that I did break of his [touchdowns in a season], there definitely was a whole lot of significance to that. I cherished the moment. ... I think I knew that what I had accomplished and what was happening, and I really considered myself really passing it on and possibly being the best receiver to lace them up."

Later, I was able to blurt the words, "Randy, did you just say you've passed Jerry Rice as the greatest receiver of all time?"

Moss didn't come out and declare it in those words, but he did say he is the only receiver who has ever faced and defeated the kinds of coverages teams use against him.

But it's even more funny coming from a guy who basically had a 3 year break, then come back this season and all of a sudden thinks he's better thanJerry Rice

IMO, if he truly thought he was the GOAT he would've answered

Yes straight up. Not just beat around the bush.

And he's a fool if he thinks defenses are harder now, CB's

are handcuffed so much in what they can do now.

I have always said that dude is the most talented reciever i have ever seen play.

But by no means is he better than jerry rice.
 
Now, certainly not all time

Last year he wasn't better than Ron Curry.

Jerry Rice = 22 TD's in 12 games.

Moss does have Rice beat...in number of police officers run over with moving vehicles. He also leads in a mooning fans race.

Shut up Randy.
 
Jerry's career stats.
191 catches for 20 +, is just sick and thats not even counting his first 6 years.
742 1st downs, also not counting his first 6 years.
These are just regular season stats. Not counting the playoffs especially when he destroyed the Chargers

thats just one example of what the Greatest WR of All Time does in big games because he is great at more than just run 9 routes.
Teams played someone over the top of Jerry Rice all the time. but he defeated these defenses by catching short and intermediate routes and creating yards afterthe catch.
 
The 9ers game planned to get Jerry the ball, the Patriots don't need to even include Randy if they don't want. When they need him, he'll be there.
