I meant he shoes aren't limited to just Sneakerboy, except a few that are collaborations. We are in agreence about the Aussy version of flight club, they get a lot of Asian exclusives. I meant SB aren't selling designer shoes from years back like flightclub, that would be my ideal store. Imagine walking in and being able to buy the space rafs from ss12 or first generation Balenciagas, or whatever suits your fancy.

People have a wide option of choices of locations to buy and while I like the concept I don't think the exact business model would work in the US. I live in Chicago, if they opened a SB style store here I would for sure check it out, but with Barney's, Nordstroms, Neimens, Saks, RSVP Gallery, Lanvin store, SLP, and all the other boutiques around within a 15 min range they have a lot of competition. They would have to be cheaper or have more stock to compete with all the places people already shop which is hard because most brands set US pricing that must be adhered to or you risk loosing those accounts. If the shoe sells out before it hits the store, it doesn't matter if SB has a full size run for you to try on. Why have a full size run of every shoe you sell and never sell them? Thats a huge cost right there unless they then turn around and sell those shoes 100's of people have tried on?

So while I would be excited to shop at a US SB I don't think it would be in business for long.

And why would they have stock for sizing purposes? Because they can? Because maybe they are samples given by the brand itself for that exact purpose? Keep in mind the dude who started this used to work as the creative director and buyer for Harrolds and his investors are the owner & Financier of Harrolds so this guy has a relationship with these brands so dude gets perks regular shop owners doesn't. This guys has connects or else the store wouldn't even get started, you can't simply walk to a Rick Owens and ask to carry his brand. Hell in California, only Maxfield is allowed to carry mainline Rick Owens in the LA area, that is a deal they made personally with Rick himself and that is the type of relationships these guys get. Is Rick going to make more money if he allows the Barneys or Saks or Neimans in Beverly Hills carry his brand? Of course he will but sometimes it is about the relationship with the store, the owner, the director, buyer, etc... That relationship could lead to collabs or limited edition available int heir store only or get new releases weeks, months before other store do, etc...

With all the money they are saving, a few pairs of sneakers in stock in store that doesn't sell wouldn't hurt their business, they are smarter than that and has taken that into account for sure.

And for those shoes that have been tried on, how do you know the owner doesn't get one of his employees to simply throw them on ebay and sell them as slightly used or display model? I know a few stores in the US and Europe that does that. How do you know that for those stock they have in hand, that they won't sell it to customers on the spot for 50% off to make room for new stock? I've been sold shoes that been on display at Barneys for extra discount, I do not see why a smaller store that can make up their own rules as they go along can't do that?

And you do know that not all city has Saks, Barneys, boutiques, etc... within 15 minutes of each other right? I am not familiar with Australias stores but I would assume Sneakerboy opened up in an area where a rodeo drive or 5th ave type of center (where the stores and boutiques are lined up in one street) doesn't exist. This guy works for Harrolds and I am sure he knows there is enough demand for him to open up a store and it got enough customers or walk-in customers that they plan to expand to two more stores this year.

Can anyone give a little more insight on the, for lack of a better name, SLP Breds? Seems the consensus is they fit bigger than prior SLP's....which can true to size. Since there are no half sizes though are people saying to go a whole size down or just stick with normal SLP size and it'll just fit a little big? Comparison to Balenciaga Pleateds or Arena's would be great. Thx.
 
i thought i would be over arenas already, but i might have to give another look at those dark greys.
 
rfx45 rfx45 I know that back story on them, I read it the first time you posted the article. They had always planned on opening more stores according to the article so its not based on all the business they are getting now. If they weren't successful they probably wouldn't be opening them as soon as they are.

I simply gave Chicago as an example as that's where I live. There are obviously places in America were this would work better then others. I have been to Australia a few times and there plenty of stores around but they are more spread out. They have lower costs in Australia because of the close proximity to Asia to save on shipping, I am sure the founders did their research. I'm aware how open box / returns sales work, no need to be condescending. I've know stores receive samples from manufactures but not in full size runs of every style (which it would need to be because sizing is so out there). With out knowing exactly how their operation works, this is all speculation so there are no definitive answers. I have given my take on the situation so if it matches up closely to yours, we are in agreement, no need to discuss further.

Go down a half size if u don't want to tie them and want a snug fit
 
But it seems like you are just finding any nook and cranny to try and discredit the concept store and go on and just retype what I have typed but still sounds like you disagree. It just doesn't make much sense to me. :lol:

I am not being condescending, we are having a simple discussion and if you feel that way then that is on you. You seem like you don't know those stuff I posted because if you did, then you won't post some of the things you wrote (the ones that you didn't agree with in my post). I mean you just said "whats the point of having all these stock in store for fitting purposes if they won't sell it", well you if you knew they could sell it as an open box item and get their money back, then why argue against it? Why say they'd lose money on it when you know that they could easily recoup it in another way?

If you knew that not all city are like Chicago and that the store in Australia are widespread and the owner of SB operated in Australia and much more well aware of the market there than both of us, then why argue and make it seem like they do not know what they are doing?

Too many contradictions man. :lol:

But yeah let's move on because I am just becoming more and more confused.

I'm 31 years old I don't need to be told how retail stores do discounts mercendise or that even designer shoes can be limited. You can state facts without the elitist attitude, that you have yet to drop from your replies.

It's called thinking out loud, I wasn't preparing for a debate just bringing up a few talking points. You keep saying I sound like I am disagreeing, that's on you. I'm not retyping what you typed, I typed my thoughts on it.

I don't discredit the concept I think it's a great idea that probably wouldn't work in America. If it did it would be my dream job. I hope my one horrible experience was an isolated event due to a huge influx of orders. With some more time I will give them another chance, but it is to fresh at the moment.

And you do sound like you are disagreeing, at some points in your post, if it didn't then I wouldn't be posting a rebuttal. At the end of the day, you do sound like a disgruntled customer so there may be where the bias lies?

Both y'all need to chill. 1love. Leave the quarreling for the Yeezy 2 thread tho. Fact of the matter is, no way to really know if a store like that would be successful until it happens, I think even SB was kinda in the air success wise as a concept, so, no point in further discussion for now I guess. Not till some rich mfka decides to try it, or we make a Kickstarter and get blogs to post about it (hint hint).  Anyway, these came in. Really disappointed, they look like Supra on feet. Rather rock some MMM for the price. Will post better/more pics when I can find my cam battery. 
 
You know what, how about you start one up Gabe. Contact Mr100 and Nicolas and try and make some connections, it's all about networking. If you can get designers to get behind you to open up a store like SB in the US, you are halfway there. I'm serious too, nothing ventured nothing gained.


As for Buscemi, never really a fan from the beginning. I mean why use a Birkin bag as an inspiration? It's so obvious too with the handle/pull tab and the tags, I'd be for it if it were subtle and actually executed well. it just isn't for me.

2014. It's a 50/50 thing.

Always appreciate those that help, but you also can't get frustrated if people decide to keep certain things to themselves in this climate of reselling, etc.
 
We talking about reselling? In the high end designer thread?! Here i am hooking NTers up with slightly worn arenas and pleateds for $2-300 while I see them for retail on eBay but were talking about reselling $600 sneakers? Wow. I'm doing it wrong
