SMH @ what this team has become, nobody even wants to go there anymore.

Very frustrating.

Enter DoubleJs*

Its a pain to watch them play nowadays (the school that is). They need to add me to the roster. Me > Eugene Lawrence by a mile

After Hatten, a straight downward plunge..

I used to love watchin Omar play.

I made a St. John's appreciation post a couple months back. It is said to see the state the program is in now. The thing is I really don't see it everrecovering. Especially pathetic considering they are in the greatest city in the world and kids still do not want to play there

Those who helped contribute to the demise of the program....

Js, who would u rather though? Jarvis coaching or Norm? IMO Norm hasn't done a damn thing since coming here.

I'd take Norm any day of the week over Jarvis....Mike Jarvs' attitude, ego, and overall mindset is one of the reasons why many recruits have stayedclear of St. John's. Jarvis ruined many relationships with people in the city who had always thought of St. John's in high regard. Bridges wereburned, and it has been an uphill battle since in trying to lure top-tier city talent to come to Jamaica.

That being said, I agree that Norm hasn't done a damn thing since he got hire by SJU. This is I believe his 4th year, and there has been little, to noimprovement with the program. There has been a high transfer rate, and for whatever reason even the local Queens product hasn't been able to do much onthe recruiting circuit. There hasn't been any "impact" player at SJU in many years. I'm sorry, but to me guys like Anthony Mason Jr. andLamont Hamilton don't fit the category of being an impact player. They are good players, but not the great player that SJU needs to build their programoff of.

The only hope is that by the grace of God Lance Stephenson decides to play his one year of college hoops for the Red Storm. A coaching change has to happen(Pitino or Calapari...but, those are most likely pipe dreams), and there needs to be a stronger commitment in getting talent from the 5 boroughs to play forSJU.

It will be interesting to see where the program heads in the next couple of years. It's been an embarrassment to watch. Back when I was doing myundergrad, guys like Jay-Z and DJ Clue were regulars at both Alumni Hall and MSG for the games. Since the whole Pitt fiasco, it's been a steady declineand we have yet to find our "new" identity.

Allen was saying in another thread that a guy like Bobby G would have been a nice fit at SJU over Norm. I agree 100% with that. There is no explanation orreason to why Eugene Lawrence is a starting PG in the Big East. You saying that you were > Lawrence is an understatement. You sitting in a lawnchair, sipping on purp while dribbling a basketball, would have more basketball talent to run the point than "Geno." It's things like that (Eugenerunning the point) which make no sense. There has been no upgrade at that position, which is baffling. I'm tellin' you that there is not a lot oftalent on that roster.

The alums/students/fans of the school are getting restless. There is so much tradition and history with the basketball team. One more thing....I'vebrought this up before, but look at Baylor. They were in a WAY worse situation than SJU, but over the past 3-4 years have rebuilt their program and were inthe top 25 a few weeks ago. There is no excuse for how things have been run at SJU. There needs to be something done....

ur a lucky dude. I wish i was there when they were actually good. Its funny thoughhow the basketball program changed its entire identity down to the logos and jerseys like u posted in that jersey thread. Its really like they want to make itseem like 'Mike Jarvis' never happened. Hopefully they turn %!@$ around BEFORE I graduate.

Didnt Roshown McLeod's bum !!% go to St. John's before selling his soul to the devil in order to transfer to Duke?

Edit:
Gunna are you sure you aren't confusing one scrub for another? Ajou Ajou Deng was a much bigger disappointment then Souley.
