Finally got around and ordered a model kit tool set. Can't wait to finally start building. (and receive a

damb kid!

what's the giant one in the middle/back? :nerd:

That would be Fortress Maximus, held the title for biggest for biggest Transformers at just under 2 feet tall for the longest time...until getting eclipse in 2013 by Generations Metroplex by ~2 inches. -pause-

Mine's actually an original, one of the times I wished I was patient enough to wait for the reissue. Even though I splurged because I won my Final Four pool that year, could've saved like $700+ had I waited a year when the announced it :x
BBTS still got some in stock if you can stomach the shipping http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK11575&mode=retail

Do you have to paint all of the Gundam models or just the master grade? I've always wanted to try but I don't have the patience or the skill to paint them. I'm assuming you have to paint them, I don't really know. On some of the instagram pics I see people paiting them.

You only have to paint for details. The parts come in seperate colors.

in most of the kits, painting is recommended but not mandatory.

when you paint you basically take the plasticy look of the material. making it look less than a toy and more of a model kit, which it is supposed to be. an easier way to get rid of the plasticy finish is to use a matte top coat spray. i really recommend top coating if you're unable to paint. the kits on my post are all straight built with some panel lining. i don't have top coat on yet.

So the higher the grade the more parts?
Eh not exactly

Higher the grade the more realistic it looks

1/144 is the smallest 1/60 or 1/48 is the largest

My god gundam is 1/60 which is the largest one I have but my 1:144 is the most details (and newer)

Nice to see people posting about plamo in here =)

I don't collect figures like the majority of people in this thread. I prefer to build plamo instead since it's like putting together a 3 dimesional puzzle.

I build both Gunpla and Zoids kits, been like that since 2002. I have assembled more than 40 kits over all these years.

For Gunpla I usually stick with 1/100 master grades, because of the size, details, and engineering that goes into them. When I first started building it was 1/144 no grades, but I can't go back to that scale, it's too small.

I been wanting to get a 1/60 perfect grade gp01 for years now. I should do it since bandai doesn't want to make a 2.0 of a kit that's almost 20 years old now. :smh:

For Zoids, I used to build the Hasbro ones when they used to sell them in wal mart and toys r us. Then 4 years ago I found out that Kotobukiya picked up the Zoids license to make model kits. They have a line called high end master model(HMM) that comes in 1/72 scale. They're extremely detailed but sometimes the instructions aren't very detailed/specific when you're building them. Besides that I highly recommend them, I have 3 or 4 of them now can't remember. They are a bit more expensive than Gunpla and don't release/reprint as frequently.

I have to post pics one day but all my kits are disassembled inside boxes in my closet. And I have quite a few.

If you guys are interested in more than just plain old out of the box assembly and want to learn more about the hobby.

3d puzzle is a nice way of putting it.

i find it as a great hobby because you just dont collect it, you build it and have to do work on it if you want it to be great display pieces.

there's a real grade gp01 you look in to that, if you dont have it yet

Burning gundam is one of my fav gundams ever, is it the master grade?

Any question just ask, I'm pretty knowledgeable.

I know about the real grades, they look amazing with their surface details. It's just that they're too small for my liking being 1/144

You're right about putting in work to make them look good. If you just build it straight out the box, it's never going to look like the promo pics. Those were assembled, painted, and detailed by pro modelers hired by bandai.

So high grade would be the reccommended level for someone trying to build their first gundam model?

When I built my HG...I was disappointed in the size when I finished building it lol.

Hoping I'll be happy when I finish building this MG

yea, they're not that hard to build, you just have to follow instructions. I say that within building 3 or 4 HGs you can easily move up to an MG

def jump str8 to MG, they're not difficult builds and they're so much more fulfilling than HG
yea the MGs within the past 6 or so years have been great and a begginer can easily build them

Fozz Fozz this is why I only stick with MGs and PGs. The only reason why I built 1/144 was because I was young and that's all my parents could afford to buy.
