Not sure if this makes a difference or if Nike cares, but the sizing on these shorts is kind of ridiculous. I'm not a little guy at 6'3 205, so Iordered an XL in the Georgetown shorts, and now that I have them, I am pretty disgusted at just how overly baggy and long these shorts are. I like loose andlong shorts, but these XL's would fit better on Shaq than a normal person. The oversizing of the shorts combined with the overly tight jerseys isdefinitely not a good silhouette. Not only does it look goofy from a design standpoint, but from a functionality and performance standpoint they areimpractical (dribbling is not that easy when you have fabric hanging down to your ankles, billowing out all around). Oh well, Nike Uniform was in it'sheyday during the late 90's early 2000's. The thick, heavy mesh fabric of the old uniforms, combined with the simpler, more classic design definitelylooked and performed better. The one positive I do have to say about the new material usage is it is definitely soft and comfortable, but with so much excessfabric, I sometimes can't help but think this is how girls feel when they wear dresses. Does every jersey also have to look like a sleeveless T-Shirtnowadays too? Am I the only one who liked the tank-top design of older jerseys, it also looked better, letting the wearer show off their guns. I've been aloyal Nike customer since childhood, and have always loved to wear NCAA gear from the company, but this new doodoo is making that hard to do.

The SOD jerseys are better for a basketball standpoint IMO. The classic style jerseys are nice but they are generally way too loose and I hate seeing a jerseyfall of cats necks. That would drive me crazy. I guess they wanted to keep it baggy with the shorts though.

Everyone complains about them. Differentstrokes for different folks I guess.

true^, im 6'4" 202lbs and own several pair in 2XL and they come just below the knee, I wish they were as wide as my 3XL Jordan shorts but oh well. They look like regular shorts on me. And for the SOD fitted tops, i dont mind the concept cause when i ball or workout, i usually wear more fitted cut off teesjust cause it feel better to me. But like Crazy EBW said, different strokes for different folks.

I'd like to comment on a few things that Krisp Kicks wrote.

"I'm not a little guy at 6'3 205" ................ Neither are the players that they were designed for.

"Not only does it look goofy from a design standpoint, but from a functionality and performance standpoint they are impractical" ............... Ididn't know that you wear-tested them to make that kind of statement?

"(dribbling is not that easy when you have fabric hanging down to your ankles, billowing out all around)".................. Funny how all the collegeplayers can do it.

"The thick, heavy mesh fabric of the old uniforms" ..................... Hmm, thick and heavy? I'm not quite sure that ball players want thosetwo things added to their already complex games. We've done away with that and innovated it into a more streamlined, lighter design.

"combined with the simpler, more classic design definitely looked and performed better." ............. In what ways did it "perform"better?

Fair enough comments MenofOregon. It's always interesting to hear the input of someone who is a part of a company/organization I have the utmost respectfor. I know you work at Nike, so I'm not sure if you have to approve or support any decisions they make, but I would be curious to hear your opinion on thenew tight jersey/extra-loose shorts look. And I'm not sure what your getting at with "wear-tested" them, but I play ball 5 times a week and Ihave worn Nike NCAA shorts for years while doing so. I actually played ball in college, although at a non-nike school (unfortunately). If your trying to makeit seem as if "the college players can do it" but I can't due to lack of skill then thats a bit of an obtruse assumption on your part.

I preferred the thicker, heavier material of the old uniforms because I guess it felt more "authentic" to me. The newer material, I believe I pointedout, was more comfortable but I cant help but think it reminds me of my old practice uniforms. I realize the product's made available to the public are notthe Authentic Game shorts players wear in game (since the sizing goes by numbers) and there are often different materials used, perhaps you can enlighten me onthis in the new S.O.D. uni's.

The main gist of my original post was to question why the jerseys went towards the extreme end of tight/fitted, while the shorts went in the opposite directionto being far more baggy. A little too baggy in my opinion. Why not keep it a little more congruent? It's almost like seeing people walking around in superskinny denim while wearing a XXL Tall Tee. Just doesn't match up. I was actually thinking about it while watching the Cavs/Bulls game last night. The wholesilhouette and flow of those uniforms just seemed "right" to me. I'm fully aware this is my opinion, and other's are free to disagree. Iunderstand Nike is trying to innovate, as you mentioned, but this is one time I think it may have been taken a bit too far. This is bound to happen, and thereare plenty of people who are more than happy with the S.O.D. innovations, so it comes down to individual taste.

Keep up the good work, and I actually really appreciate the time you take to discuss/explain Nike's thinking to those of us not fortunate enough to be apart of the company! Can you tell I wish I was a part of Nike Inc. haha, my current job sucks.

Krisp Kicks, in no way, shape, or form was I trying to "attack" your opinionabout the System of Dress. Your opinion is just that, your opinion; and it is fully respected and noted. Although, I do believe that "thelook" is a bit "eyebrow raising"; but there is a reasoning that is justified, sometimes only to the designers themselves. But I can assure you,the design was not thrown out there to ridicule the sport, its players, or the fans. To each, his/her own.

I never really understood the tight jersey/loose shorts either, but I think that's what made me like them.

My Oregon blackout jersey should arrive today from Eastbay.

Sup!

Since there should be new Olympic jerseys this year, I did my own little rendition. My focus was to simplify and create a throwback look while adding elementsof the present. I know most people hate S.O.D. uniforms, but since its the future of jersey design for Nike I used it as my starting point. I also went in theway of a new color scheme because USA should be headed in a new direction. Out with the Red/White/Blue in with the Gold/Blue. Supremacy is the new motto forTEAM USA! (I made that up)

P.S. if any Nike insiders know any info on the 08 jerseys please shed some light. Stuff like this fascinate me.

I would love for USA to wear SOD gear. Don't care too much for the Supremacy though.

Totally feeling your PS's especially your motto and the whole GOLD= SUPREMECY thing. That gold and blue is what they shouldwear from game on to IF they make the Gold Medal game imo... very nice PS I like it very very much, Great Job

stealth??? didnt they have an article saying these were bad luck for the oregon basketball team?

As MenOfOregon said "To each their own."

Nike does good work. I like the jerseys.
It's a very cool thing seeing Nike innovating
and creating whatever they want. Generating
buzz is a classic trademark of those cats and
it shows all the time. Keep doin' what you do Swoosh!

those u.s. shorts look nice, wish they would have done more with them, but then again it was just the high school showcase, looks so much like the cuse'shorts.
