STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

Anyone else here go to LA Fitness? A few locations around me have started putting in this new PRT gym where the basketball courts were. The one I frequent has had it for a few months and they probably never have more than a handful of people getting trained in there. They probably have room for 25-30 people at a time and did offer free training sessions in the beginning and of course it really tapered off after that. So frustrating not to have an indoor court available at the gym to run pickup or get some shots in during less busy times.
Pickleballers invaded our gym timeslot.

few reasons

fights, arguing, guests coming in just for basketball, etc etc

I grew up south where all my LA fitness had courts

now in a nicer area and none of them have a court

yea one of the gyms i go to actually started closing down the courts for overnights now because of the constant arguments/fights

quick question for yall:

if someone was a state champ in their sport, are you impressed with that? i’m not talking high school or anything like that. i’m mean in the open division.

like a state champ wrestler
state champ bjj
state champ powerlifter

in their respective weight class

You’re obviously lifting at a higher level than I am, so take what you will from this:

Like other dudes in here already said, you gotta do this **** for yourself.

Bragging on your accomplishments is kinda lame, especially when you pull the same ace out of your hand every single time, word to Yugi and the Dark Magician.

Do that **** for you, because you wanna push (past) your limits, or because you wanna be the best. D

I hold several local-level feats and am kinda brolic, so my abilities are known to the point where folks (including strangers) at work will bring that stuff up on my behalf, sometimes randomly in conversations that have nothing to do with working out, so I don’t even need to mention my own accomplishments.

Depending on what the “flex” or accolade or accomplishment is, some folks just won’t care.
- Some cardio gawds don’t care if you total 2k raw with wraps, they wanna know your 10k or half marathon times.
- Some folks don’t lift and wouldn’t care if you out-lifted the Worldbreaker Hulk on the platform.
- A lot of folks don’t lift and have no idea what competitive numbers are and they might be ‘overly’ impressed. (“Josh totaled over 1000 pounds at States?! :wow:“)
- The MMA folks (as seen in this thread) may only care how many subs you know, or what color your belt is.
- The gold diggers and pop daddies may only care what type of whip you pulled up to the competition in or what your net worth was when you weighed in.

You’ll never impress every person you meet, and if you’re a perfectionist, you might even start critiquing the folks you do impress.
(“Suzie from accounting is a Fat so of course she’d be impressed by someone lifting the gym while she eats her feelings watching Netflix at home with her 8 cats.”)

**** and enjoy the journey. You only lift live once. Wheymen.

Aight y’all.
For those actively getting/staying fit, what’s some go-to snacks or in between meal munchies?
Macro or not as intense macro watching.
So many protein products out there nowadays.

this yogurt and a banana is my ol' faithful. the lemon flavor is really good if you like lemons

this gave me nightmares when I was a kid. mah folks would lace my chocolate drink with this stuff and say they didn't put anything. I could definitely taste that slimy texture.

Was dealing with some **** that went from mental to physical the past few weeks. Missed the whole month of April at the gym and I lost 20 lbs (which is good for me)

Gonna get back in there tmrw. Hopefully I get some minor noob gains and I’m not too weak  I was on my way to hitting 100lb dumbbell chest presses

🤔 guy is probably viewed as a caricature/real life meme but there’s got to be some legit/valid reasoning behind this??? 🤣🤣🤣
