STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

incline puts more pressure to your shoulders and less to your chest.

shoulder is a more injury prone area than the chest how is incline better than flat .....
Not entirely true.  If done incorrectly, yes.  People tend to either add too much weight too quickly, or flare their elbows causing undue stress on your shoulders, and shoulder joint.

Surprisingly, my gym wasn't crowded at all today. Maybe because I came early. I'm hoping that it's not crowded next week when school starts.

Mine was empty too but I think the resolutioners will give themselves one last weekend of freedom. I'm fearing what Monday is going to look like.

brah... breast milk was supposed to be on the low...

I got dat Cambodian, brah.

The weakest dudes usually have excuses for why not to do a lift, so funny.

Damn, people are knocking bench press?

I bench twice per week at 2-3 different angles with flys incorporated on one of the days.

Sure I could shoulder press 125s for reps of 12-15 in each hand, while making plans with some dumbo girl at the gym. But why risk messing up the rotator cuff? Please, stick to 20lbs dumbbells or 20lbs cables max. Ther is no need to go heavier than 20lbs for any lift.
save the heavier lifting for the bedroom.

This man knows.

I didn't start to see chest gains until i gave up on flat and focused on incline. I don't know why but having long arms makes flat bench hard for me. The motion has never seemed natural. So i start with incline and go heavy there. The incline motion feels more natural to me...i can stop when my elbows are about 90 degrees without putting stress on my shoulders. I still flat bench but its now my secondary lift after i put everything i can into incline.

To each his own...find out what works for you everyone is different.

I've quit being content with what progress i've made and i'm getting serious about lowering my bodyfat :smh:

Once I really get my bf% down i'll actually look athletic and not like a dude who used to be morbidly obese and lost a bunch of weight.

I'm slowly cleaning up my diet. I've finally decided to give up soda (a really tough thing for me to give up). Didn't even finish what i had left. Just poured them all out in the sink. I honestly thing soda is the root of my issues. Popping a soda makes me want other ish - Ice cream, chips, etc. All of it has been escorted out my house.

2014 will be my year. Taking it to the next level

yea.... my dude is getting frustrated with his progress, wants to look more muscular. He's dropped 40 so he's like 200 lbs now (6"4) but the holidays we was both teeter tottering between gaining and losing a pound or two. I keep telling him to be more vocal on the message boards so ppl can give him concrete advice on his next move. He's off 5x5 and onto something he found on youtube ( :rolleyes ) He won't get a personal trainer, though I think I may suggest it.

What are you guys thoughts on getting personal trainers? If you are one obviously you are biased so stay out of it

If i were to get a personal trainer it would be strictly for accountability.

But I usually have a partner in the gym and we share the same mindset and we're willing to vocalize to each other when one of us is not on point.

I think he should find a workout buddy and a running buddy. Personal trainer may push him to hard for the money to go to waste.

Repped.

I've always been an ectomorph and have steadily put on some pounds (good proportion of muscle) the last 4 years or so. My diet consisted of fast food, junk food, protein shakes and lots and lots of beer. I'm gonna finish everything in my pantry/fridge and start replacing it with healthier items. Time to get serious. Gonna be checking in this thread more often now.

 ur blessed my dude

I could boiled chicken breast, veggies, and if i eat too much brown rice i gain fat... srs

Years of being the fat kid, gamer, introvert did a real number on my metabolism. Its gotten better over the past few years but even what minimal amount of soda/junk food i was eating was enough to stunt my fat loss. Its my own fault now I just gotta work around it to get past this slump im in.

I'm stronger than I've ever been... is just time to be leaner than i've ever been!

Unless you have absolutely no idea what you're doing, I wouldn't waste money on a personal trainer. Just from the observations I've made at my gym 90% of PTs don't know what they're doing and are just stealing money from naive people. Smh.

Not all PT's are crap and it should really be used at a starting guide. Get a PT for maybe 3 months and by that time you should have a steady routine and know the in's and outs. Usually get a trainer that isn't associated with the gym too.

Tell this 14 year old powerlifter benching is unnecessary. Just swang around 20 lb dumbbells. Same results.
