I personally would do more than 1 set if you're shooting for hypertrophy. 1 set would be ideal for power lifting.

I only do 1 set of deadlifts...275 x 5. If you're doing multiple sets, you're not lifting heavy enough imo.

1 set of deadlifts? Really? Are you this dumb? ? Yo NT please tell me he didnt just say something this dumb.

Yeah and I said I knew what you meant too. Why do you do leg extensions?

They are great after squats. They work your quads.

the irony of your comments is ironic. lol.

leg extensions are a horrible exercise sir. aware yourself.

I would imagine your facial expression to be

But on another note, let my man do him.  If it's working for him...more power.

totally agree.. leg extensions are not really that worthit in the long run... as any orthopedist... it places an unreasonable amount of stress on your knees... I barely ever do them..

Meh...thats like sayin a Chiropractor told u not to do Squats because it hurts ur lower back yet its the best thing for ur lower body and a must do in weightlifting..Of course their gonna tell u that thats their job..there are risk in anything..

Lol you think leg extensions are good but I'm the dumb one?

You do know squats work quads if you go low, right?

I'm doing Starting Strength and it's a lot of stress to do 3-4 sets of squats followed by Deadlifts. Enlighten me on your reps/weight for deadlifts.

What the hell is going on in here? It's been awhile...

When I do deadlifts I do 5 sets with no more than 5 reps. The last 2 I do one ore two reps after adding weight each set. It worked exceptionally well for me as my max increased quite a bit after a few weeks of this.

And leg extensions...No. There's much better ways. Squats, deadlifts, cleans, lunges. You do that on leg day and that's more than enough total body workouts to get you where you want.

pause...

But im in

But people probably do leg extensions after squats if they are really focused on building legs ie actual bodybuilders. I agree it might be tough on your body in the long run but i feel like its a decent isolation movement for those really trying to build there legs up aesthetically. They cant hold a candle to squats tho don't get that twisted.

Set Wise I like to hover around the 3-5 area with reps ranging from 3-8 depending on what I'm lifting.

for example Box squats ill go 5 sets of 3 at 315+ cause im not tryna get those husky thighs and not be able to wear my pants, but for something like db bench, im trying to gain some size, so I'll go 4 sets of 5-8 @100+, etc

Kind of depends on your goals an the related target area

I agree with leg extension not being necessary.

I do it once a month.. One set of 15 after my last rep of squats.

That super burn.

To me Roman Chair squats/Sissy squats are the best quad developer ever, the burn you get is ridiculous. Instead of using leg extensions these should be used if your gym has it, its a old school piece of equipment so a lot don't have it.

Leg extensions are terrible for your knees and the last thing most people need is exacerbate the imbalance between quad and hamstring strength.

For anyone who plays sports, if youre looking to pull your hamstring keep doing leg extensions and youll get your goal real soon.

The reason leg extensions are truly bad is because they're not movements that occur in everyday life. You tell me when in your everyday routine you push 50+ pounds in the same manner as a leg extension?
