STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

Ran my first 5K today. Finished in 20:57, which I'm pretty happy with, for it being my first race I've ever done. I will break 20 next time no doubt.

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK NT FAM

How do you guys feel about doing DB instead of BB bench totally? I feel like I develop more in my chest from it, and I just go harder on tris to make up for the difference.
I stopped squatting 3x/week cause i couldn't fit in some of my jeans after a while lmao. I just stick to doing 185 for 3 sets of 10 a week to keep them up to date a little. I've heard time under tension increases quad growth from friends, but i think its broscience

I only do DB bench. Overall I think its better to work each pec separately in that sense instead of a barbell. I personally feel it much more and dont even have to worry about not bouncing the bar, etc..

I had the same problem with legs tho lol

I would say lift heavy but low rep. I usually don't go more than 5 for warmups but usually lift heaviest weights at no more than 3 reps. 3-5 sets of that an you'll be good.

for HIIT i do sprints. I might purchase a pair of cleats and run on the football field.

Wish my gym had a basketbal court.

Feeling great after this mornings workout...although I need to mentally separate myself from doing so much cardio and equating hard cardio with a hard worthwhile workout if I truly am done with my cut. It's just so damn hard to do that when its been all you've known your entire gym "career" I guess, but I need to shift that same intensity over to my lifting.

It must be done, especially when you have your grandma, and parents make mention of you needing to stop losing weight separately within the same week...the week after you ended your cut  :smh:

Weighed in at 172...like I said, I'm done with the cut. Would like to maintain this month and begin a 20lb bulk Jan1. I've tried eating more, it hurts

So fellas, im sorry if this is a newb question but if anyone can verify or correct my thoughts on HIIT, itd be appreciated. Id rather get answers from the NT fam than google sites with agendas.

-It burns the most calories
-Increases metabolism
-Increases athletic endurance
-Increases athletic explosiveness (like first step in bball)
-Better than regular cardio in terms of keeping muscle mass

Am I on the right track?

Im 5'10 bro, short fella unfortunately. I originally wanted to get to 165 by years end but I felt good with what I saw in the mirror and decided it was time to take it easy til years end -- which I haven't been able to allow myself to do. I have a month to learn how to change my mindset, ill be ready to go Jan 1 with this new resolution of actually gaining weight...never thought I'd EVER have THAT as a resolution haha

I love DB's...I feel like I get better work out of them, Unfortunately my gym only goes up to 130lb DB's so on days I want to go heavy with chest I've got to switch over to the Barbell. I even use them on back day doing DB rows over BB rows.

I just got my hands on some Rings so now I'm incorporating Ring pull-ups and Muscle ups into the mix, also Ring dips.

I'm gonna need a good month to get myself into gaining mode, so scared of gaining fat but I'll like the feeling of being full.

 That 5'7 - 5'10 avg. height life. Honestly though, most people you come across daily are either eye level or below. It never bothered me at all, not even when your chick put heels on. It's more an ego boost than anything. "yeah this tall bad ***** is mine".

Thanks man.  I have "dead shoulders", so I'm working hard on developing it.  I've just added rear delt flys to my shoulder workout in hopes to really add some definition and size.  Any tips?

One-armed upright rows, on a smith machine

Behind-the-neck shoulder press on a smith machine

Leaning lateral raise with DB: http://www.muscleandfitness.com/videos/mf-raw/raw-training/mf-raw-59-lean-your-delts

DB superset: http://www.muscleandfitness.com/videos/mf-raw/raw-training/mf-raw-42-extended-set-training

These have been great exercises for me, I've noticed a lot of growth in my shoulders after I started using these exercises.

Guys please give me ways to bulk without getting fat lol.

I'm legit about to just drink those protein/carb shakes that has like 1,000 calories in them like 3x a day and eat normal. I'm 155 now but i want to be atleast 165-170 by Jan.

You are going to look obese. Aim for at most 1 pound a week. Out of those 10 pounds maybe 2 will be muscle

How are all you dudes 6' or over under 200lbs?
Ya'll should be 220-225 lbs. If you've got the height, then fill out.

I carry a little bit more fat at 12% but I walk around at 195-200 at 5'7" and I don't go too crazy in the gym nowadays (used to though).

My gym got flooded due to the Hurricane and it's been closed going on a month now. Hopefully it opens soon. I've got the itch.

If some of ya'll want some reccomendations or advice on strength training or oly lifts then hit me up. There is a lot of BS out there that results in wasted time and money.
I don't know much about bodybuilding though.
nah, i was 225, didnt like it as much as 205-208

i do want to be like 5% bf tho

Pause. But, I wish I could see a pic of where everyone's at. It's easy to read something and think, "Oh he must be yollllked he know what he is talking about." But honestly, there are some form/diet nazis who think they know everything yet look and perform the worst in the gym. Post pics ya'll.

iLLest!
Couldn't agree more.  I'm 6'-0" 190lb.  I was fat/loose in the cage.  Some may remember me from the the P90x and insanity threads awhile back.  I just started lifting consistently (8 weeks).  Trying to make these gains!!  My major goals are adding some size, and REALLY defining my abs.

bra, all you need is more profound delts, then you're done, abs already look legit

honestly, arnold presses and normal shoulder presses have shown gains, i alternate between heavy and hi rep throughout my week
like one delt day i will do shoulder presses with 150lbs 4-4-6-6
and the hi rep day will be arnold presses with varying weight 10-12-15-20

those are just some that can help, i do more exercises i might have left out but i know those blast the delts quite nicely

something a little more unorthodox, when i do push ups i hold for like 30 seconds at the top, and then go down half way and hold that for 30 seconds

use one of those exercise bikes at the gym, and whats good to improve your cardio and lose fat at the same time?
