STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

Harbinger "Big Grip" straps came in today, and I'm impressed. The problem with regular straps is they pull on my wrist which leads to irritation.

I've had a mild case of carpal tunnel for a few years now, and regular straps would aggravate it. With these straps, there's no pain at all.

Only downside is the strap is of a nylon type material, so you can't do a true false grip when going to heavier weight.

The hip is high enough. Your lower back is slightly rounded already and it'll get worse if you place your hip higher. Whoever said to activate your lats is right. I'd like to see more upper back tension. Imagine that you want your two scapulas to touch, once you fix that I'm sure your lower back will round less. Whoever said to look ahead and not up was right.

Maybe once you get in the habit of keeping your upper back tight ((and thus preventing lower back rounding) you can start lifting with your hips a little higher, but for now that shouldn't be the priority.

Just got some tk bands knee pads for my squatting. And a couple new pairs of free run 2's. I love the shoe for leg day. As good as romaleos for squats and at a fraction of the price. Got 2 pairs for like 145.

today i tried doing thrusters for the first time after watching that 14.5 vid. started with the bar to get comfortable and then did 5 sets of 10 with 75# and some jump rope in-between. that's a great full body exercise. i think i'll be doing a day of fun exercises like those that i scavenge together to help me burn some fat while i'm tryna do this cut. maybe a Pull Push Legs Fun rotation.

i remember reading somewhere Rich Froning saying that thrusters is the best excercise you can possibly do, your whole body is engaged, legs, quads, core, hips, shoulders, arms then you do it for time and fast and thats cardio as well.

awesome. i think i'll keep it at 10-15 reps for now and up the weight.
told my gf i did some thrusters today and she said "isn't that a crossfit exercise? i thought you hate crossfit"

Hey up the weight as long as you don't sacrifice your form, don't screw up your back coming out the hole bro...

But yeah man, thrusters are :pimp: hate them but love them...you can also do Wall balls with a 30lbs medicine ball, is pretty much te sake wxcersice, just a more cardio component to it.

Have you worn Romaleo's?

Shirley you can't be serious.

Wouldn't recommend Free Runs for leg work, there are better shoes out there.

I used to squat in NBs, I've been using chucks for about a year now. Day, and night difference.

Running shoes have too much cushioning to squat in it. Makes you have to work more to stabilize the weight throughout the movement.

Squatted for the first time since late November yesterday(dislocated my shoulder and couldn't support the bar on my back, then hurt my knee. Smh). It felt so damn good. Since I can squat again, and with a limited amount of time with finals right around the corner, it's the perfect storm to hop back into Wendler's 5-3-1.

Thinking about adding a caffeine supp to the regimen....any advice? Pros, cons etc

I use caffeine pills personally. Whole pill on leg day, half every other day. I use Prolab brand, I can vouch for them being a good brand. EBay has em around $6-8 per 100 pill bottle. If you buy in bulk, I've seen 1200 for $60.

Caffeine is better off to me than regular pre-workout, because I can sleep even if I took it only 4-5 hours ago. Doesn't get me jittery either.

I don't do black coffee, because it's disgusting tasting, and stains your teeth.

Yea trying to avoid starting a coffee habit, got enough vices as is

I'm a laid back kinda guy and I don't eat too much junk food or anything that makes you hyper. Hoping caffeine pills don't make me too high energy

So, yesterday I incline DB press 110lbs for 4. My strength is surely going up. I'm not sure when I'll be going back to flat bench. I'm still looking for a good pair of wrist wrap.
