STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

Too thick because you guys buying whey concentrate based garbage commercial brands. Stuff not gonna give you lean gains at all. Cheap as hell an they don't disclose the protein blend ratio. Paying for fancy label and branding. All this protein comes fro. The same damn manufacturing sources.

2 of us asked you to recommend something. Yet you're still rambling on.

Either help or http://www.twitter.com

Why use straps on shrugs and bent over rows?

Those are some of the best exercises to build forearm strength and size.

Don't be that guy with no forearms and no legs...

No one likes those guys.

They are last to eat if a famine breaks out.

Your forearms will grow even if you use straps lol. I'm not sure where you guys get this idea that straps will hinder forearm growth.

My forearms are thick, and I use straps. End of the day, you still have to hold the straps to really use them. They're not hooks.

I will agree that straps don't develop grip strength, but grip strength being important is dependent upon your goals in my opinion. If you plan to eventually step on stage, grip strength isn't important.

Beach weekend in T-minus 9 days....after 3 weeks finally starting to see my diet and increased cardio paying some dividends. At my heaviest i was 190lbs over the winter. Down to 179 yesterday hoping to get to around 175 before memorial day weekend.

Whats everyone's take on L-Arginine/L-Ornithine or other offsets of it like Citrulline or agmatine or other NO boosters. I only take whey, a multi, and fish oil. Looking for a little boost, heard good things about hemavol. Tried it...didn't really feel the pump, but def had more endurance. Found myself getting to the end of my work outs and looking around like...im gonna do more. Also has helped with being able to finish my routine with cardio. Whether it was a 2 mile jog or 15-20 on the stair master. Wasn't as much of a struggle as normal.

Not sure where the logic come in here, but I get a bigger pump in my forearms when I'm using straps lol

Woke up early to get a good lift in before hitting up the nike outlet to see if there's any deals and heading to college station for the Aggie baseball game tonight.

Whatever it is, stay motivated guys.

Jking hemavol gives good pumps. Thing is not with one scoop. Def 2 scoops. What do I recc for whey? This topic is a dead horse an I've talked about it everytime an get shut down by others. I was just saying I can't believe how much ppl in here talk about it. Lol muscletech phase 8 and bs. I've recc. website where you know exact what your getting and you save money an also amino protocols an other products. I havnt taken whey in months. In lucky transformation thread I posted a recent pic an I'll post another June first. Have not lost strength or muscle an I'm recomping. Whey is whey overrated. I do big lifts like the rest of you bros in here too. No machine bs work.

Because bent over rows and shrugs aren't forearm exercises. Why would I do that to myself? I hit forearms directly and deadlift with just chalk. Why would I lift less weight than my shoulders and back can actually handle?

Lol @ forearm work.

Grab some fat gripz an make life easier. You guys have time for BS like that? I'm jealous.

Forearms will grow if you do Deads an actually move iron also. You guys be training like ifbb dudes. All that extra stuff I'm good. Straps? Never needed.

How long you guys train a day? My earlier 20s I thought I was doing it with 2 hr workouts....when life had more time. Now days I bust *** in 45-1hr tops no dre beats or nothing. Just mind body connection. On that note. Off to gym now....fasted as usual.

I'd take the power of the 300 silverbacks if i were you, they're definitely stronger lol

These Cape Verdean and Dominican dudes in my gym talk all day. Loud and while lifting. Like literally while lifting having convos.

 ok in this scenario....that is probably right

My friend said to me the other day "i haven't signed up for a gym yet because no one will go with me, and im not going to the gym alone" I was like what? I hate when people go to the gym with me  if i had a partner i would easily be at the gym for 1.5-2 hours per trip....no thanks

So the average exerciser should use straps, but the powerlifting/crossfitter shouldnt? I say its the exact opposite of that.
Average exerciser, probably not. Those focused on the mind-muscle connection and pure isolation, (more experienced, hypertrophy based trainers) I would say should. Powerlifting and crossfit, to me, have always seemed more about functional fitness and unassisted personal strength. Using grip assistants or strips seems to detract from that philosophy. Though I definitely see where you are coming from.

The problem is that with straps, the mind muscle connection is severely diminished. If you diminish the hands responsibilities, it limits the neural systems need to fire. The harder you grip something, the better you achieve a neural drive. To me, thats why I see things opposite of the way you do. The average gym-goer needs MORE functional fitness/health and by limiting grip strength you limit the total functionality of the body.

Also keep in mind that theres a very strong correlation between hand grip strength and total body strength.

They just don't know..

If you NEED straps to deadlift, bent over rows, or shrugs you clearly have Burger King hands and the forearms and grip strength of a 5 year old girl...

So, yesterday was my leg day (Back squats 3x10 @275lbs, Front squat 3x5 @ 255lbs and seated and laying hamstring curls)

I was asked how I am able to do back squats than front squats afterwards. I said I see it as the same as people doing flat bench than incline.

I see what Durden is saying... But I'm not allowing my grip strength to be the limiting factor in how I train my back. For me, there comes a time when I hit a certain weight where I can't focus on contracting my back muscles due to the fact that I'm focused on holding on to the weight.

Lol @ the speculations though. A dude in my gym DLs 7 plates for reps, and uses straps. He truly must have Burger King hands, and the grip of a 5 year old girl.
