STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

you should be able to cut damn near 10# the night before a weigh in. guys competing in the 198 class walk around large as hell. my gf's brother competes at 148 and he's a beast. walks around close to 170.
Yeah I could definitely do some things to cut a good amount of weight but since its my first meet, Im just trying to get in the class and make all my lifts.

I could probably walk around at 190 or so and cut to the 181s but right now Im trying to get as strong as possible and put on mass and thats easily done with my weight around 200-205.

I have no problem gaining weight so I could probably go up to 220 but at my height thats more than Id like to weigh.

I've got a closet full of mlb hyper cool drifits. You can find them at Marshall's and Ross for $20.

The loose under armour shirts that feel like silk are legit too. I wish they made more fitted shirts out of that material.

It's feast or famine. There are also some stores that just get better stuff than others. Usually the stores in nicer areas get the better stuff.

for some reason this didnt happen last year. my body stayed leaned as hell while even consuming more food than i am right now. i went from beer belly to a 6 pack unflexed in a little over 3 months.

ive leaned out a bit without losing muscle but no 6 pack. in the mirror i can see a little bit but still got a bit of belly fat

i think im gonna need to do a refeed. i assume just once is good?
Yessir. Maybe up your calories slightly day to day as well. Seems counter-intuitive, but your body is like a furnace. Gotta keep it burning and amply fueled. Also, consider changing your lifting to involve more supersets/dropsets. I personally have done away entirely with standard lifting conventions of 3-5 sets of 8-12 and have seen the best results of my lifting career.

Another thing to consider: if that going to your beer belly to your 6 pack was your first real cut, your metabolism isn't going to take as much of a hit. You shocked your body through nutrition and lifting. Maintaining that loss becomes harder and harder as you go on.

wasnt my first real cut

my diet is spot on. protein, fat, and carbs are on the low side. not losing any muscle, have lost some fat and weight. i look great everywhere, exactly where i want to be minus my stomach.

im just gonna refeed on sunday and see what happens

Hey man, you never know. My first semester at college was health and exercise science and 98% of people in there looked like they had never seen a gym. Keep me posted. Have some contacts at the University and in the fitness world I can get in touch with and try to get better advice for you.

wish i can lean out without losing any muscle mass :smh: when you did that in 3 months, what was your routine/diet like?

man i dont remember too much about the diet as in calories but i was pretty much eating 10+ eggs a day, a lot of chicken. Turkey burgers (just patties), sausage at times mostly for the fat  lots of fruit. and one shake a day after a workout.

pretty much i was getting 150+ grams of protein strictly from food which i think is key, especially eggs.

I'm also against straps but that's me. I feel like if you can't lift it on your own then you shouldn't be doing it. Same with lift offs imo. Idk just me

That's your opinion, and that's fine... But power lifters wouldn't be pushing the amount of weight they do. They get lift offs due to the fact that the bar has to travel at your weakest point on the bench.

So shoulder health isn't important to you? That's one of the main reasons people in general get a lift off.

I swear man some of these comments are just plain ignant.

I'm going to say YES to lift offs...

Once I go beyond 315 on bench.

Lift offs are tricky sometimes though bro, if you get someone who doesn't know how to do it properly it can throw you way off.

But to say they're cheating is just stupid. I can do the same weight with or without a lift off, its just for shoulder safety in my opinion.

The bench at my gym is a competition grade bench.

Has the steps that are raised, and the spotter stands and lift offs from there.

Plus my partner knows how to properly give a lift off.

I've given lift offs for dudes hitting 550+.
