STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

I have been using myfitnesspal for 38 days now. I dont really care to work out with weights...dont really believe in it. I simply wanted to lose 12 lbs. It is amazing how well it has worked. I eat wtv i want and just try to stay under my cal limit (1560). Dropped 8 real pounds. So much better (and i believe.healthier) than eating 3k calories and burning 1k with a workout.

All i do is hoop hard on sundays. Let my body rest the rest of the week, except for Jump rope, pushups, pullups on wed.

Gonna look good, be able to hoop into my 60's, live 80+ functionally.

You technically Are lifting with weight..

Pull ups = body weight

Push ups = body weight

I guess that can work if you aren't trying to look "fit" but simply want to see a number on a scale.

Another myfitnesspal question.

To see past days I just have to click back on the arrow to the previous datev? Is there a way to see the diary in a calender type of view?

What does not believing in working out with weights mean?  It actually exists... its a thing... if you do it you will get stronger... simple as that.. nothing to believe lol

Lol i knew i would get flamed in a thread like this. I simply meant i do not believe lifting weights has anything to do with actual health. It is great to do for fun or for getting a certain look.

I define health as:
1. The energy you have each day.
2. The length of a pain free functional lifespan.
3. The ability to play basketball at a high level for hours.

For me overexerting myself with weights has no tangible benefit. It simply reduces my lifespan (more calories consumed more calories burned = shorter lifespan generally).

What?

Thats the most ridiculous thing ever. Lifting weights = stronger heart, stronger body = longer life span.

Theres too many life variables to think about what activities (besides obviously smoking, drinking) actually affect your life span anyways.

Its one thing having an opinion, but if your opinion literally goes against scientific data then you a mess

Lifting weights IS health. Maybe not by your standards :smile:lol) but cmon man. Dont say something so ridiculous.

You must get bodied on the court, unless your natirally gifted.

You on that "China Study" BS man.

Ill leave this for everyone else to handle...... I dont agree with 1 part of what was said.

Im not feeding the animals in cages.

I don't believe in weights either, I'm fagnostic.

I kid, it really isn't a need for fitness, could go through life and not lift and be fine. To "not believe in it" though is a poor statement.

I guess you aren't smart enough to realize lifting weights could help you preform better on the court.

You kind of sound like a weak little baby back biotch.

No disrespect.

LOL

Word, if you feel you dont need it for your personal "health" thats one thing, but to make it seem like a myth and to discredit it is another.

Have any of yall seen the Steve McNair football life on NFLN?

His brother was telling a story about how Steve and him didn't like to lift weight. In college they just told the strength coach they didn't like the lift weights. The coach challenged McNair to bench 225 10 times, and if he did it, he didn't have to lift weights again that year.

He did it with ease.

When youre 60 and break your hip because your bones are as structurally sound as a saltine cracker.... Well discuss the importance of strength training.

You just have a preconceived notion that all weight lifting is muscle headed bros or overweight guys listening to slayer.

What do you guys think of this apparatus? The short end rests in a barbell for support. The end of an olympic bar slides in the long part and it works like a bracket and socket for T-Bar row work. $24.99.

My gym has that has a lot of different uses some work shoulders and lunge with it I only use it for t bar row thiugh

I'm hyped, about to go hit the gym for the first time in 5 months since tearing my knee. Gotta gain all of it and more back, but I'm motivated.
