Headed to the gym for chest day I skipped yesterday.

Squated 305lbs 1 time Thursday. Got 295 up 4 times. And had never crossed the 300lb barrier. So went for it and once I got it down and up I just racked it happy with success lol.

So I have a questions for you fellas.
My semester break started a week ago and I switched from doing all cardio on the elliptical to just lifting weights just to see how it is.
My main goal is to lose the excess fat that I have, and I was curious if it was a good decision to just lift weights in order to attain my goal since I've heard that cardio would actually work against my muscle gains. Do you guys think this was a good choice? Or am I just wasting time? :nerd:
Lastly, I'm confused as to how many calories I should be consuming each day to attain my goal. I put my info onto the MyFitnessPal app and it says that in order to lose 2 lbs. a week I should just eat around 1800 calories or less. How many calories should I be consuming since people have been telling me that I actually have to increase my calorie intake due to the weight lifting?
Much thanks for any help guys.

All that depends on a number of things. Calculate your BMR and go from there, they even have macro calculators online if you want. You should increase your caloric intake if you want to gain mass. I stay at a caloric deficit while still lifting because I'm trying to lose excess fat like you are. I've read that something like HIIT WILL work against your muscle gains. But walking at a brisk pace at the park or on a treadmill after you lift weights will actually help with fat loss.

My cardio really only consists of walking for 30 minutes on the treadmill or skipping rope for 15 minutes.

I'm going to try it out bro.

I looked up walking after weight training one I read your response. I'll bring up the incline and walk for a brisk pace at the gym today after my weight lifting session.

It's a good thing I stopped my HIIT workout. :nerd:

I swear by my vibram toe shoes, nothing gives you a better feel for the ground.
Illest, you might as well just go on a dirty bulk dude, you post every day that you "cheated"

+1 I feel great squatting in mine, deallifts also.

Anybody here follow Intermittent Fasting/Leangains?

I've been eating this way for close to 3 years now.  I love it.

Going to start a 6-8 week fat loss phase next week. I''ve been following Wendler's 531 for 3 cycles now. I'll contnue with cycle 4 after my fat loss phase.

Love the simplicity of the Wendler program.

couple things are really starting to piss me off at my gym (la fitness)

dudes that bring their gfs/wifes w/ them its always some super scrawny dude with some super ugly girl trying to train them and they both just get in the way and have no idea what there doing

theres this guy hes probably 60 years old probably weighs 270 lbs nt in shape at all and he maxes out EVERY MACHINE im talking puts the max amt of plates on every machine not only does this take up all the plates he just sits on the machine for 40-60 mins and when he attempts to do the exercises he doesnt even move the weight a inch

beats by dre douchebags, seriously u are wearing 300$ headphones that are heavy as **** to work out in i wear mine for 30 mins and my kneck starts to get stiff, ive seen it mult times wear guys have studios and they dont even have them turned on

the old dudes in the locker room just letting there junk fly arnd freely there is a simple way not to show the world your stuff if u need to take a shower at the gym bring a towell wrap it arnd u and then proceed to undress theres dudes in there doing laps arnd the locker room *** naked

and to top it off and the reason why im posting this here was a dude in my gym today wearing 4 inch (my guess) high heels working out yes high heels purple and pink high heels

and yes i understand these are probably all stupid/petty things to some people and why should i care but these people make it uncomfortable to be in the gym (naked dudes and high heels) and take up valuable space (gfs/wifes old dudes that dnt know what there doing)

we didn't do that one. it's the one from the show Spartacus. CRIXXUS!

iLLest!

Spartacus workout is the truth. I lost a lot of weight at one point and toned up a lot by doing it a few times a week. Great for cardio and strength, plus you are hitting so many stations that you never get bored.

Beats arent terrible headphones although I do agree that they are NOT worth the money at all. But seriously? Your neck be giving you problems after 30 min? I know thats exagerration and all but if theres any slight truth in that you def need to start doing some neck exercises or something.

Is this the same workout posted on Mens Health?

went hard on the shoulders and calves today. great workout. i'm beginning to love working the smaller, more stubborn body parts. can really focus on each piece. calves are getting really strong.

I really don't wana go through a bunch of pages, but I'm gonna start workin out in the next couple of weeks and was wondering if anybody can recommend Me pre and post workout shakes?

I'm under weight and wana bulk up I'm 5'11 and weigh 150ish

Any help is greatly appreciated

Can barley sit down today, my wheels are coming along nicely, had a great base to start from all those years of soccer.

I had powerbeats for the gym before I got my current LG bluetooth ones, dudes rocking the Studios, Pros, or Solos in the gym look dumb

I use my Solos while working out. I'm not concerned with what headphones might make me look like to everyone else.. They provide a tighter fit and give me the bass that I like. They get the job done.

Great "Push" day today.

I especially felt great after the brisk walk on the treadmill after my weight training.
Upped the incline and bumped up the speed. I felt invigorated once I was through. :smokin

I've never been so excited to walk.

alright fam...

does anyone have a good workout for when you are absolutely hung over? playing hoops works good for me, but what about other exercises that help ease the pain :nerd:
