Made the mistake of forgoing my morning workout and going last night and it was a madhouse! I'm glad Im used to the AM workouts now bc going after work with all the New Years people Is going to be a nightmare. Ready to hit 2015 hard in the gym!

This. I went in the afternoon yeaterday still during normal work hours and it was packed. Got me worried about my workout during my lunch break today.

Don't follow football that much (actually at all) but this former NFL player Townsend just joined crossfit. Judging from his videos doesn't even know how to lift really but he's putting up more weight than Froning on his cleans Lmao. Just lifting off of super freaky strength rather than technique and knowledge. Well damn

Always wondered how former professional athletes of other sports would take to xfit, now we'll see.. He said he wants to go to the games
I've been keeping up with him and he's been lifting for a while now, done a few competitions and picked up a few sponsors. Opening his own crossfit gym as well. He's strong as hell as you can see with that 415 power clean but his weakness is the gymnastic type stuff.
For a crossfitter, he's stupid strong. For a weightlifter of his size, he's average if he's in the 94 kg category but I think it's only cuz he doesn't know how to squat underneath the weight.

As he is, he has a chance to be an elite crossfitter as long as he works on his gymnastics. He'd also have a chance to be an elite weightlifter if he wanted to but every lift he does is power, as long as he keeps doing that he's kinda short changing himself.

That said, it seems he's only interested in crossfit.

He did a weightlifting comp a month or two back where he snatched 290 and c&j 352 I believe. Yea you can see he's much stronger/comfortable in the power receiving position.  

He's 6' around 195 so he's not small but he's not short and yoked like some elite cf's where they're like 5'9 190-210. He's ridiculously strong though, some of his lifts make me

I'm assuming he was 85 kg category? 132/160 for an American weightlifter in that category is not bad I think. He won?
 
If he's only interested in crossfit, he should just work on muscle ups and his butterfly pullups and he'll be money.

Froning's best lifts is 300 lbs/370 I think

Saw this comment from him on his power lifts "I prefer to do power movements more than your conventional way. I don't know why either. Can I move the weight, sure can but power movements are better for me than it is getting under the bar. However, being a former college/NFL athlete, all we did were power snatches and power cleans from the hang position. To emphasize more explosiveness on the field. Coming into Olympic weightlifting I do have slightly tight shoulders and tight hips. The process of getting at dropping under the bar are making progress. So I'm staying n on that path."
 
Word man, I can dig it. But if he simply interested in crossfit, he doesn't even need to learn the full lifts.. He'll already be the best guy in the clean jerk ladder and also snatch.

Just saw right now he can hang snatch 315 pounds.. Nobody else in the crossfit games can do that!

Tight hips and shoulder explains a lot, no wonder he's not comfortable diving in the hole

I don't see the particular color way I like. I would probably get it but I'm fairly comfortable with doing every wod in my lifter plus shoes at this point.
