STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

I don't think he's arguing the whole vertical plane thing. I think if the bar is as close to the body as possible the bar can still move up in a straight path if your form is correct. I don't necessarily think you have to have the bar sliding up your shins from the very beginning but it should pull up your quads once you get past the knee and your hips should drive forward as fast as possible at that point.

I dont think theres an argument at all but when critiqueing or explaining the mechanics of a DL, I rather emphasis a vertical plane of travel than having it close to your body.

The thing that gets me is that dude has a lifting belt and straps on while pulling that monstrosity of a lift.  That combination just screams that homeboy knows he has no business trying to pull that.

Thanks for the help...

I don't count the bar because I don't know how much it weighs, so in reallity is arround 340.

Going to try the things you said tomorrow; get the bar closer to my legs and get the hip drive going sooner (working on that with my squat too), the only thing I can't do is going lower on the position, when I squat lower I round my back more and just can't pull tight, start pulling with my arms...

Its videos like that where i am glad i have never worn a weight belt. That dude would blow his back out if he didn't have that support. I would rather perfect my form and lift lighter weight then pull more weight and be dependent on a belt. But I am not a power lifter by any means so what do i know

Anyway had soccer game number one of the season yesterday. Felt so good to be out there. Minus the first play of the game some dude slide tackling me and rolling up my ankle. Can't really walk today and it looks like a golf ball was put on top of my ankle bone...no gym for me for a few days or at least no running or legs day :smh:

It doesn't look that heavy, though.
Judging by their accents Id say those are KG plates and if we go off by the size of them, Im guessing its 400+ pounds.

I think that would be considered heavy in here lol

Yea sounds like he says "190" at the end which would be 418 pounds. May be wrong on what he said tho lol

my father-in-law and brother-in-law are both powerlifters with state records. they pulled me into their home gym to watch my lifts. worked on bench and deadlift and gave me a few form tweaks and cues to work on. then they slapped the bands on too and bench/dl was really interesting using those. i should have worked with them a long time ago.

You know I'm surprised no one has tried to come up with a shoe insert that mimics the adipowers and romelos. Nike could be caking off something like that or if they went into the shoe insert/sole business in general.

The elevated heel is on the outer part of the shoe, they're extremely hard for stability.

If you had an insert, it might raise the heel, but would be a pretty bad alternative.

Right I'm aware. I just wonder if there's a mind innovative enough to come up with a solution for that, when there dudes coming up with putting in springs, air pumps and LEDs in them. It's gotta be in R&D somewhere.

Nope, sorry.

If its removable then that leaves a chance for it to slide around or move while lifting and that's not what you want with heavy weight on your back.

You want inserts that won't move around, just get custom built orthotics lol

I wear mine for flat feet. Although, it would be unusual to get orthotics for weightlifting

Ok.

Imagine a shoe like the Metcon. If you've tried them on, they stick to te ground really damn well. They have a base that protrudes outward onto the ground, reminiscent of the other shows. This is the base.

Now here where you get creative. I recently bought clipless pedals for my bike so I'm a little inspired by mechanical solutions. Imagine the shoe has a magnet system. A magnet embedded into the heel of the shoe. With a little box shaped hole were one can place the sole with a perfectly shaped magnet to fit in that hole. In other words, this shoe comes with two soles: one for everyday function and a plastic hole cover to insert in that magnet, and a "oly" sole with a magnet that fits in that hole. Hell, you could place smaller weaker magnets on the sides of tr heel area to help keep the sole in place.

In this way, we have an elevated sole with super secure magnets keeping it in place and a show that has tr properties of the other shoes. The shoes could have those Velcro straps too.

Anyway, that's just a first attempt. I can imagine having more tools at my disposal. My gut doesn't see a problem with something like this.

Problem is you already have the Romaleo which is super popular so making something like that could possibly hurt sales for those.

A better idea would be for Nike to make a cheaper elevated heeled shoe to go along with the Romaleo like Adidas does with the Powerlift.

Its already a small market to begin with because only people buying expensive weightlifting shoes are either serious lifters or people with disposable income.

I would look at sales of the Metcon to see which market is responding better: the Metcon or romeleo; 100 bucks or 200 bucks.

If you can make a cheaper shoe like 150 with a marketable and also useful gimmick, who knows? Maybe capture moreindshare and dollars.

I need to work for Nike. I hope Yall reading this, Phil.

Let's not call it an insert market. Let's call it a mutli functional shoe. Do you guys hang out in your adipowers? Those things aren't fun. Imagine a shoe you can move around in that comes with thst second sole. Cycling shoes sort of have this with mountain biking shoes and clear covers and that stuff.

I have hope.

Also, why ought it be a small market? All it takes is a product that bridges the gap. There tons of people buying training shoes. Not as many people buy romaleos. Just takes the one shoe to make the transition. Lower price points being in more people too.
