i find shakes pretty counter productive for weightloss
. Liquid calories, despite the large amount of protein, generally aren't very effective in terms of satiety. Focus on filling foods that aren't too dense in calories- chicken, eggs, etc..
 
Question on my diet, if my macros are out of whack and I'm not eating enough carbs can it affect my weight gain. For example I'm thinking I'm having too much protein and far too little carbs because I was making steady gains and had gained 5 lbs in the 1st 4 weeks but nothing this week. Can it be related to that or do I just need to eat more and disregard macros?
 
I deadlifted 315 without straps and it was tough. I could have had a few more reps if I didn't have the bar slipping. With deadlifts being a compound lift like they are, I think there isn't a thing wrong with using straps to get those extra reps in considering the point of the lift is more total body.



how's your grip? are you using an opposite grip with palm up and palm down? bar still sliding?

I've tried both. Doesn't slip as much with opposite grip but my palm down hand (left hand) starts to slip on my third rep almost everytime.
 
Illest. Bruh. You are saying you are "all about reps" which is def cool- but the form on some of those lifts leaves something to be desired. The dips... What's the reason for not going all the way up to lock out arms? The tri push downs.. Again not going full range of motion. You ever feel corny video taping yourself in the gym bro?

are you hitting your calorie goal for the day? If you are you should be gaining weight. Thats how thermodynamics work. My guess is that you're not getting in enough calories. In terms of your macros, First ensure you're getting enough protein then fill in therest of your cals how you see fit depending on your budget preferences etx

Ran stairs holding a 5 lbs medicine ball for about 15 mins

Jumped Rope for 10 mins
Pushup, Crawl, Pushup, Crawl, Pushup, Crawl across the sidelines on the basketball court. Back and forth
Tricep dips (20)

oh yea i dont like to slob and stan on supps too much but i did get a delivery from bb today.

i treat supps as such, supps to my main nutritional workout.

Yessir always try to get a full range of motion when I press. I hear you with the Kai mentality but with legs I got to go highest weight possible to work them fully,but that's just me. All them years of soccer payed off.

But yeah old dude asked me if the ground could handle the weight

You mentioned that you were waiting on the Smith machine? Why? Unless you're rehabbing an injury, I see no reason to use it.

Grip strength obviously helps, but I see NO problem with using either chalk or straps if you're having an issue getting your reps due to the bar slipping etc.
I have no problem with chalk, but I won't ever use straps. True grip can be a limiting factor, but you're always going to have a weakpoint in a lift. Eventually your grip will catch up. Add in some extra grip work and you should be fine.

No, but you do realize that if you're not training and just hitting on yambs, you're gonna look like an idiot. Make sure you achieve a balance between training success and yamb efforts.

Just lifted without resting between sets...dawg. I felt like Rambo.

No more sitting around going through my phone between sets anymore man. I was feeling burn and sweating like hell while lifting, which is something I normally don't do because I take long as hell rests smh
That's good for conditioning in that you maintain an elevated heart rate, but expect your strength to lag without proper rest between sets. Someone check these numbers, but ideally for hypertrophy you're resting between 90 seconds and 3 minutes. If your focus is strength, rest period between sets should be more in the 3-5 minute range.

Argh, Got back into the grind at the GYM after finally begin cleared by my Doc (Out 6+ month cuz of an bad car accident)...and it's SUCK!!! Taking it easy right now until i built my confidence back tho :wow:

Man i suck at resting.

Does anyone swear by the 3 exercises per body part methodology?

My dad is a former body builder and was all "you do too much" because on chest days i do - Flat bench - incline dumb bell - dumbell fly - and cords for light sculping at the end. Some times i will super set regular bench press with some light weight dumbell fly too.

He said that was too much. He also can't believe i do bi's and tri's on the same day. Since he does bis- and back and chest and tris. But when i do that i feel like i don't get the burn i get when i take a day to hit tri's by themselves. They get hit a little on chest day just from benching but after chest im usually tired and its harder for me to work tris hard and get that burn.

But i guess i will switch my routine up for a bit see how it goes. Can't hurt i guess. But today is supposed to be rest day....I will run for 30 mins or so and maybe do some lats. Dead lifted 315lbs yesterday. I think I can do a little more next week. Did two sets at 315lbs with 3 reps each and my grip was failing on the second set.
I don't swear by any methodology, but you can make plenty of progress both in terms of strength and aesthetics with only one exercise per body part. I have plenty of days when I go in and on;y do my main compound (obviously a lot of reps and sets). What I'm getting at is that volume (weight, reps, sets) is what determines how much work you're putting in, not how many exercises you do.

My legs have just always been a strong point so I love to push them to the limit. I just have to be careful with my ACL replacement. 

I know you'll get back to 8 plates, esp if you have done it before. DO WORK
