Dressing Better Vol 2.0

My opinions on mid range priced shoes and suiting.
There are reputable brands such as Cole Haan, Calvin Klein, Boss, etc that make really good suits and dress shoes. Many of you guys are either just starting your careers or graduating college. No need to drop $500 plus on a suit and your body hasn't fully matured yet. Plus, I am sure your pockets aren't there yet. (If you got it, ball out broth). But don't hassle yourself with Allen Edmonds, Bespoke suiting etc until you are fully sure how you would like to dress. Most adult men only have 2-3 suits. I work in a business casual office and only wear slacks and dress shirts with the occasional sweater or blazer in the fall/winter months.
I wear Cole Haan shoes. Not only because i was first put on with the Nike Air, but because i walk a lot and need the comfort. (I have no idea what I am going to do when Nike sells Cole Haan at the end of the year) If you beat up shoes like I do you may want to buy shoes for everyday wear and then invest in higher end shoes for your special occasions. Just my 2 cents.
A nice fitting $200 suit, crisp **** and tie, matching shoes and belt will take you far. Now when you get that corner office...I will be mad if you don't upgrade. LOL.
You can look sharp for a ridiculously low amount of money nowadays thanks to fast fashion brands like H&M, Uniqlo, Zara, etc. I don't think I would want to have baller brand stuff in college because chances are you're going to get beer, food, etc. spilled on them.

Don't go in debt buying clothes, that's just not smart at all.

What shade of red? L.L. Bean usually has short sleeve chambrays every Spring/Summer....

Good to see this back up and running. I'll be posting more and asking a lot more questions.

I purchased my first Everlane shirt, and I was impressed at how comfortable it was. They're worth the price IMO if you can actually find one for sale.

I can relate to that feeling lol.

Just started a new job last month, and the first thing I did with my first pay check was cop some Facconable and Brooks Brothers shirts for work.

Almost spent a g, but it was definitly worth it. I haven't shopped in months.

I got a question. How do y'all decide what to dry clean and what to machine wash?

If I wear it to work, I take it to the cleaners. You'd be surprised how many of my customers ask me if I iron my own clothes  My cleaners picks up and drops off so its super convenient.

For anyone that's just starting, I would highly recommend desert boots. I have Clarks. I’ve had these boots for nearly 4 years. I wore them religiously for the first 3 years or so. I still wear them every now and then. They were the first pair of shoes I bought when I got into men’s wear back in the Fall of ‘08 as I was wrapping up my undergraduate career. I’ve worn them on two continents. I’ve worn them with everything from jeans, chinos, shorts, to suits. I’ve worn them to several interviews that would eventually made way to afford shoes of higher quality. For around the $100 mark, they are absolutely worth the money.

i'm 5'9, very slim. i'm not sure if i should get 36R or 36S.

HEADS UP: express is having a midnight sale. there are 3 blazers (retail 200) on sale. after the 40% and a 15% coupon (code:9378), they come out to 101 each. sale ends 8AM EST.
Go with 36R. The difference between the R (regular) and S (small) are the lengths, not the width. I'm the same height as you are and I wear a 37-38R, probably a bit heavier than you too.

Since fit was mention, and I mentioned there was an audience that likes the anti fit.

Some folks size up intentionally on suits for an avant garde aesthetic. Not my style, but really interesting nonetheless:

real life...

im looking into the same suit (express photographer)...

im 5'10.5 like 160.... im thinking 38r?

i have two of them and really enjoy the fit. esp for a 40% sale, express is not bad imo. that being said i normally get a 38r (sizes for all of my suits) but for the photographer i wish i got the 38s. only difference i really notice is that it is right at my wrist bone so i wouldn't have to get that shortened otherwise (38r is tad longer). I'm 5'10, 175lbs if that matters

whats the code for the 40% off
it was a midnight sale from 12AM last night (7/20/12) til 8AM that morning, so theres no 40% off sale anymore. but the suits are now 140 and you can apply a 15% off coupon(code 9378) which makes it 119

done. anything else to add wj4?
I'll let you know, my man. I just have the outline completed right now

Looks like camo will be big this fall/winter.

I kinda want the sweater, but don't know how versatile it will be and almost $200 for a regular cotton sweater is :rolleyes

Funny you mentioned JCrews collab sweaters, I ordered these two sweaters this morning.
I'm just a sucker for that little fun heart detail. I read they aren't very slim though but I just had to give it a shot. They're easy to return if they don't fit anyways.
