Dressing Better Vol 2.0

For the peacoat... You could also spring like $20-30 on one from Old Navy, if you want an extra one so the more expensive one doesn't get ruined.

Not as high quality but are still pretty good, especially for the price, and those that don't know are none the wiser about it.

anyone have personal experience with suitsupply.com??

Looks like good reviews and a top contender for sub-$500 suit. Would consider the ludlow too but skinny lapels are not my style.

(FWIW I'll prob end up visiting the store)

EDIT: Also, opinions on Bass Weejuns? quality-wise at least? Not sure if I'm a loafer guy, so I figured I'd keep the first pair low budget. "Dover" model, btw

Hope everyone gets well soon!

Wis: great trousers! and dude, that new shirt will make you look like slim Psy haha

Anyhow, like you guys would guess...i got more thrifting finds :smokin
Let's start with the stuff i passed on:

Chocolate Brown Ferragamo Captoes sz 11.5 2e (the black rubber sole ruined it for me)
217623

Also saw some Burberry stuff. Kid's shirt was the coolest
217624

Now to the things i picked up.
Found this RL Messenger bag. I wanted a Herschel for school, but this will do just fine. Especially for $3 :D
217625

Also scooped these Polo boat shoes with a Vibram sole:
217626

Wasn't feeling the kilties though...so I changed it up a tad
217627

Saddle soap to clean em then busted out the mink oil on these bad boys :pimp:

^question for the thrifting thing: obviously youre finding very nice things at ridiculous prices, but are most of the items you come across clean? I'm sure you wash them before you wear them, but even still, not sure how I'd feel about buying musty materials, etc. (just curious)

well i actually haven't purchased any shirts for my own keeping (something that directly touches my skin) but the shoes i thoroughly clean over and the jackets i've purchased seem to be in great condition. If i felt the need to though, i'd bring em straight to the cleaners but that hasn't come up yet :\

Weejuns are a staple...I've been through probably 5 pairs in my life, for the past 6-7 months I've been wearing Larsons in the burgundy color, the color has aged well and I like the way they look now better than I did when they were new....

Do you guys think this is to "matchy"
Sweater is like a speckled orange
Vest is olive
Scarf is dark gray, cable knit patter
( wore it to dinner)

This is actually really nice. You're style has changed significantly man, and it looks great! :D

i think this is great man. nice earthy tones you got going on. dope fit :smokin
+1. Great colors coordination.

The Kenzo shirt is going back, man. Arms are too tight :frown:

Great steals, especially on the messenger. That will transition nicely when you get a job.

Old Navy peacoats are horrible. They fit extremely large, and even if you size down they're still boxy. The buttons are also huge and something about that large anchor print on the buttons is just awful :x

Man you're paying $20 for it. Not $100 or more. It's a suggestion for something in reserve to not ruin your good ones.

It's true though. Even if they're fine for $20 and as a reserve, not everyone is looking for that. The fit is poor IMO as well and there are much better looking ones, even H&M as mentioned which are still cheap. ****, Target has better looking & fitting peacoats.

Dude who asked the question asked about a nice one. The Old Navy peacoats generally wouldn't be regarded as that.

Hi Everyone! First of all I want to thank all of you for the well wishes and prayers. I've been in the hospital since Thursday and should hopefully be out tonight or tomorrow at latest. As I do spend a lot of my time on here, I did want to you guys to know. In short, I had a micro-rupture on my large intestine and well my doctors weren't sure if surgery would be needed, thankfully it's not, so it's been just handling the infection with antibiotics. I should hopefully be back to posting tomorrow, here AND on the blog. Good to see that this thread has grown quite a few pages, definitely have some pages to catch up on.

Wishing you all the best Serg, hope you have a speedy recovery man :smokin

And NewJ wishing you a speedy recovery as well too man, see too many close calls and accidents with careless drivers not paying attention to bikers around campus :smh:

i've seen it mentioned a few times in here, but how familiar are you all with the regular vs. slim fit of brooks brothers shirts?

i like these and was thinking of purchasing...anyone own?

http://www.brooksbrothers.com/Slim-...D&contentpos=36&cgid=men-featured-bestsellers

I'm stocky, 6'/225 and I get ESF's. I got a couple regulars and one slim fit cause they were on deep clearance (less than $20's) and I was swimming. Got them tailored (slimmed down) using an ESF shirt as a template.

Tommy Hillfiger has a 50% off already reduced items sale going on. Some decent footwear in there. I know most of you don't like logos, they have a few solid items without their logo there

As for the list, long time lurker and have asked a few questions here and there, and have PMed wj4 some questions too. Hope I can get in on the raffle :nerd:

Trying to slim down so fitted clothes look better. Dressing better is not easy if your overweight. True story
You don't have to have a model's physique or be skinny as well. Niidawg is the living proof. But I do agree in a healthy lifestyle, and wish you the best on your weight lost journey.

I'm a big fan of the Ludlow shirts from J.Crew. I recently purchased a white one for a wedding and a blue one for a med school interview. I wear a medium.

I'm 5'10 and 145lbs, so if you have the same measurements and are looking for a nice-fitting shirt that doesn't break the bank, I would definitely recommend it.

5'10 145? Damn man you skinny.

Yeah, I'm working on it haha. I'd like to be around 160 and lose some of the fat I've put on since getting a girlfriend.

If you look on the past few pages there is a lot of discussion regarding Suit Supply and LyonBC1 has even posted a pic in a suit he just purchased. Anyway, for the price point, the quality is awesome, they have suits to fit all different body types and tastes. If possible, I would go to the store and try it on because I know I got thrown for a loop with the sizing the first time (Washington Cut FTW doe).
