Dressing Better Vol 2.0

FYI, J. Crew Factory just sent out an e-mail regarding 50% off everything in-stores from today until the 27th. Elkin...are you hitting this up? I think I am!

Would love to hit this up,unfortunately the closest factory store is 3.5 hours away :smh: ..Also for anyone who might be interested now through Monday Express is having 40% off everything including clearance items..

Dudes, I'm kinda thinking of finding a way to keep me busy during the weekends. I'm thinking of thrifting some shops around town and see what kind of treasures I can find and sell. Instead of focusing on menswear pieces, I will look for vintage items as well that I would like to wear, and probably a lot of the gents in here. I will clean up the pieces, put them on an outfit, and post them up for sale. I'm not looking at turning this into a career or anything. I'm more curious to see how much traffic and buzz I can generate.

Any thoughts or 2 cents?
It become very time consuming. Most resellers hit stores throughout the week when most of the items hit floors. Patience is key. But the reward can be addicting. I stopped by Goodwill last night after work and found a VNDS pair of Jordan 1 Black Toe Old Loves for $6. Size 12 so I'm keeping. But I have seen guys thrift themselves into new cars and homes.

Tell you what, if you are looking for anything in particular PM me the links, let me know the following: size, color, and price you want to pay at most (I say this because online prices are usually better than in-store) and if it meets the price you set I'll pick them up for you. Retail+shipping.

J. Crew Factory is the outlet stores, sorry.
No problem, I wasn't sure which was which. I'll have to try to get down there & hopefully get a suit at a good price. It'll be my first one. Do I have to show the email to get the discount, or is it automatic?

Does anyone know if they'll have a similar deal on their website?

That's very generous of you sir! Nothing is really jumping out at me at the moment but thank you for the offer.

I'd be interested to see what you can find, I keep telling myself that I need to go thrifting but I always put it off

I swear all the hipster "consignment" shops where i live get all their clothes from the goodwills near rich neigborhoods lol.

Its a good idea though. Its like youre selling your personal taste.

And you know you will profit unless you have to do major cleanup/restorations.

I say def go for it. I would if i had free weekends.
It takes a lot of work to find the goodies. The thrift stores near rich areas mark up their prices too, a lot. I'll see what I can find that will appeal to people.

The goodwills down south all have set prices which is good/bad

Also we have a goodwill clearance where they charge by the lb.
Dont know if u got that up there but its really worth checking out.

Good luck.

Sounds like a fun hobby. I'm thinking about picking up wood-working so that I can craft some coffee tables and bookshelves.

They pretty much rename everything at J.Crew Factory. For the most part, the fitment of clothing isn't as good with Factory. I usually turn to them for basic stuff like t-shirts and accessories.

I wanna check out a factory store this weekend. Actually looking to pick up that chino suit that was mentioned a few pages back.I bought one of those Navy Thompson suits during a 50% sale in March and it was a decent investment. Def took alot of tailoring (about $100) but was nice once it was finally finished. I wouldn't suggest the Thompson suits for everyone but for recent grads and people just getting into the dressing better thing its a great start. I also own a Ludlow and there are definately differences but the Thompson isn't a bad buy.

Trying to control the impulses in regards to buying one of those polos from the uniqlo site.

I like the Thompson suit for me, as it fits my body better than the ludlow.
