Dressing Better Vol 2.0

Off topic, but I recommend the book "I will teach you to be rich" by Ramit Sethi. It's geared towards 20somethings and 30 somethings, perfect for those about to graduate or early in your career.

Handling your personal finances is as sexy as wearing a well fitting suit. :pimp:

Thanks. Actually scooped these from the seconds list back in Feb. Brooks Brothers version came with a topy'd sole as well! I think I ended up paying $130 shipped :D

Did you match with a merlot AE belt or...?

I have to buy belts to match my snuff suede RL's, walnut Sanford's, and merlot McAllistairs. The spending never ends :frown:

Yo...have y'all gotten inventory lists or whatever of AE seconds and if so, did you e-mail shoebank@allenedmonds.com? I've tried that a couple times before with no response and did earlier...I realize it might take a little while this time but considering I haven't heard back twice before I'm wondering.

Anyway, I needed a new pair of brown captoes and tried to order these with no luck:

Liked these and thankfully I was able to get them:

I have a pair of walnut Daltons but I'm contemplating another. Otherwise I might check on the RL ankle boots or either pair of suede Sanderson or Slaton.

Don't hate me but I'm not as big of a fan of AE Strand or Park Avenue. :\

Is this like Rich Dad Poor Dad or The Millionaire Next Door where it states that basically anyone can become rich if they are stingy?

I love reading, I have 5 books lined up now...from coding to business ethics, to entrepreneurship so I'm just curious.

Today:

The Publish pants from Nordstrom came in. They are indeed black and cotton, not the charcoal wool stated on the website  I tried to search for the link, but it looks like the item has been taken down. I'm still gonna keep this one though. FYI, they fit true to size. I got a 30 and 32. My natural waist is a 32, and the 30 is spot on. The fit is very slim. If you have large thighs or booty, the pants would probably not work for you.

It's more about practical personal finance knowledge and provides action steps to eliminate debt so you start saving and investing. Also explains the importance of starting a 401K and/or Roth IRA early. Basically, it's about being smart with your money. Don't be lazy and have a lot of money sitting in a low interest savings account at a brick and mortar bank.

But I like this author because he doesn't say to stop buying what you love. We all love buying new clothes/shoes. If you absolutely need to use a credit card to make a purchase, make sure you already have 75% of the cost saved up at time of purchase to avoid getting into debt.

Good stuff. I agree about investing young. Time is your friend and it can compound exponentially.

Interest rates at regular banks are super duper low. I remember it was around 4% or so when I opened my high yield savings account during the time WaMu was in the crisis and folks thought they would close the doors one day  I don't think the norm is even 1% nowadays.

Topcoat looks good but I feel like it has to be slimmer throughout the waist and the collar has to be popped.

Popped collar would look horrible since it is slim. If the collar was exaggerated then sure. The cut allows for layering, which is fine with me. Over the years I grew to worry less about the slimness of outerwear. I like both aesthetics.

Will have to check that out in store. Looks good in pictures!
Just as I posted that I saw a code on the homepage for 25% off.

Diff code showing up for me but I'm definitely gonna keep an eye out for that tan one.

Still kicking myself for passing on this coat from BR last year. Kept waiting for it to go on sale then it sold out smh

That ended at midnight EST...but they have 20-30% often enough.

Coat looks terrible IMO. Too busy with the epaulet and strap on sleeve.

Maybe it was a blessing in disguise then

I'll probably check J. Crew this weekend to see if they got those coats in stock, though it's probably too early still. I dropped in last weekend and they didn't have any outerwear on shelves after rearranging the store the weekend before.

TSB feature was cool. That true blue suit

(literally sold my pair of ’01 bred 11s to fund my first Allen Edmonds purchase)

That's one of four pairs of Jordans that I still have. I couldn't sell them. Do you regret it at all?

DB fam got a quick question. In an attempt to save some money. I have a blue suit to wear to this wedding. I don't have brown dress shoes. I have a pair of grey suede lunargrands. Can that be worn with maybe a grey tie....or too informal for a wedding.
