Dressing Better Vol 2.0

I think you guys might like the Tailored Slim-Fit Soft-Wash shirts Banana Republic has this season. I usually leave BR empty handed but I bought a few of these for a good price during the 40% off card member sale. They are really soft and light, good for spring. Good fit. Since they are prewashed they didn't shrink at all after I washed them. Been wearing them at work with ties and trousers and dressing them down more casually also since the length is good. Wearing one today...

Apologies in ad***** for the poor picture quality but you can at least see how the shirt fits.

Kinda amped to see En|Noir & John Elliott's Gap collaborations.

GQ picked a nice slew of designers for their yearly best.

Do any of you guys tailor your own clothes? I'm want to learn simple things like tapering shirts, hemming, etc. but I don't know where to get started as far as what kind of sewing machine to buy.

I could probably hem my own pants if I needed. I was pretty good at sewing in home ec class. I learned how to hand sew and use the machine. There's a machine in my house somewhere. I could learn a few things from my neighbor who is a seamstress / tailor but she's a little crazy and I try to avoid her.

I hem my own pants for the most part. Granted I've messed up a couple of them when I was first learning.

Youtube should be very helpful, they usually have guides on almost anything you want/need to learn to do.

For the cats who sold their kicks, how did you go about doing it?

The last time I moved sneakers in 2009, I used Craigslist and the car boards I was on. They were so time consuming and frustrating/comical at the same time. Kids emailed me to trade for bootleg programs and giftcards.

I'm gonna go consignment this time around.

Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are the move now.

If you're dealing with consignment like dude said, make sure you do your research. LOTS of scams right now

I moved 300+ sneakers using eBay a few years ago.

I see that. I personally want to avoid this since cats doing paypal charge backs now.

Explain please. I plan on using Rif LA.

I used eBay as well. But man, what I'm hearing now about buyer trying to reverse charges on some BS.

eBay is pretty bad now man. there's more scammers than anything. plus between their fees, paypal, and shipping you barely get anything. as long as you are going to a legit consignment shop like rifla you will be good wis. drop off and they handle the rest.

Word up. Thanks, doc. My prices are aggressive anyway. Hoping kids would scoop ASAP.

Yeah if you use Rif LA, that's fine. Use someone that is reputable and known. I see alot of kids going to these online consignment stores with horrible websites, all these schemes, and wonder why they get scammed. eBay is really taking a turn for the worse. I use that as a last option. The facebook groups like NikeTalk, NDSG Marketplace, etc seem to be booming and people seem to be getting sales on there. But with all the chargebacks like you said and the BS going on, local consignment shops may be the way to go

I put all of mine on eBay.. It's not as bad as what people think.. Down to 5 left to sell I think.. Some people actually hit you up privately so you don't have to deal with eBay fees

Just FYI, chargebacks are a credit card feature, not an eBay feature. You can essentially get a reverse charge from anyone if you accept credit card payment regardless of the medium you chose to use (other than a third party who will absorb any losses like a reputable consignment shop).

I've literally sold hundreds upon hundreds of sneakers on eBay over the last decade and I've never been scammed. However, I screen everyone who places bids on my items and I'm quick to delete a bid if anything about a bidder seems fishy. Just got to be smart and not obnoxiously greedy.

Dealing in straight cash money and having meetups in VERY public places are the only sure things. Just make sure you bring a counterfeit pen

Indeed, man.

I've done meet ups before and those were smooth. Had to filter out a bunch of BS though.

I've heard horror stories about Paypal charge backs. I know they always side with buyers so that got me worried.

I've been using eBay since 01 or so and been good so far. Haven't used eBay to sell in a while though.

I agree with you. When I was in my GQ stage and had my shirts tailored super slim, I once ripped a shirt from trying to make a u turn.

Don't they have 25 percent off all items now?

Bigger sizes may be on sale but smaller ones have been on and off backorder. I copped with just my student discount. Fit and feel sold me.
