I wore something like that, and it proved comfy for me in the following situations. 1. It's the morning/evening of a hot day. During the day/afternoon the jacket goes away, but in the chilly hours you put it on. 2. Not that hot, but still shorts weather and very sunny, you wear a light linen shirt and jacket to avoid sunburns (I have very white skin and I got sunburned in April...). So like I said before, almost everything has it's place and time...
P.S.: You do realize I'm gonna go to work tomorrow in a suit with shorts after these posts

What y'all know about and1 tai chi mid, and1 shorts, and1 headband, and baller id bands. Couldn't tell me nothing in middle school. I made girls cry at recess for scuffing my kicks. That's lunch money b.

Have had the waist taken in & let out in pants, never had a problem but it was never as severe as 2"...around 1" at most. Issue could be in the proportions. Not a huge fix but I'd imagine the seat would have to be adjusted tambien.
Depends what you're wearing...seems like the definition of formal varies way more than I ever thought it did so I doubt you're talking about a tux.
