Dressing Better Vol 2.0

Last week I picked up the Cliftons and I scooped the Strands today. I only plan on keeping one, which should I keep? Both the same price BTW.

I personally like the strands over the cliftons, but I hate the v thread soles.

I ended returning the Cliftons and keeping the Strands for that sole reason (no pun intended). I walk to work every morning and for those who know how slanted and steep some the streets are in the financial district, its not gonna work out with leather soles. That and the fact that we get brutal weather + leather soles = eating pavement. I took both pairs to the office just walk around the carpeted floors for a few days. Cliftons started to bow out around the ankle, fits like a glove elsewhere, but flared at the ankle.

damm i really like suitsupply's Navy Napoli suits, but seems like you can't order different sized pants. Can a pair of pants be let out? If so by how much? :frown:

What do you guys think of br's monogram suits?
There is always room for allowance with them.

Are your proportions really that off? If possible, try going in stores to get the alterations done. I would bet this is something that they run into on the regular.

Love the fit of the APC PS but can't justify spending that much money on jeans.
Live a little, man. A solid pair of dark rinse jeans is a staple item. I'm not sure how much APCs run now but I'm guessing it's still under $200, haven't bought a pair since 2010 or so.

This is basically entry level too. We haven't even look at the real goodies from Japan ie the stuff from Self Edge

How you going to drive a Bimmer and rock Old Navy?

If you wear them half the days of the year you are only paying about $1 a day.

If you really don't wanna spend a lot on good raw denim check out gustin. You can get a good pair for like $80 you just have to have enough people buy into the pair you want so it's greenlit for production and then wait for it to be made. One way to save money on quality. Lots of different kinds of denim there. I'm gonna get a dark grey selvedge pair from them hopefully.

What do y'all think about Hood By Air?

APC's are not even that much

Especially compared to the mid-tier and high-tier denim brands out there. And like Henny said, you're definitely getting your money's worth because you wear them everyday. Quality over quantity; I'd rather have a few pairs of raw denim rather than a closet full of $30 Levis. Shrugs.

APC price to quality ratio isn't worth it. And this is coming from someone who owns 3 pairs. They're about 185 now but couple years back they were 140 I believe. The only pro to APCs are that they fade pretty quickly and they offer cuts most other brands dont offer.

Check out brands like 3Sixteen, Pure Blue Japan and Baldwin if you're looking for quality.

DB bros please let me know what you think i should do to tailor this suit

I agree.

Invest in good food and exercising regularly easily outweighs any and all superlative clothing in the world.

You don't have to get brolic, but be in a healthy state. Clothes will fit better too.

Would love to hit the gym with you cats. I linked up with one of the dudes I know from this site back years ago last night to work out at the gym, the 2.5 hours flew by mad fast

Those brands you mention are a lot more $$$.

Since we're on NT, we all copped sneakers at one point or another. $150+ for a pair of Jordans or $200+ for Foams and Lebrons. If we can shell out that for some cheaply made kicks, surely a staple item is not far out of reach.

Hood By Air is some Pyrex nonsense. I don't mess with that stuff, b.

I agree with your thinking of getting the most out of the gear. I have some $200 custom made shirts that I wore weekly for the last 2-3 years, if they were to fall apart today, I'm happy with that. On the other hand, I have some other joints that I rarely wear, if they fall apart today, I would be disappointed.

How do you know how much to hem trousers to get them to break correctly? Realizing my dress pants are slightly long but I don't wanna go too short. Any help?

They will all fit differently depending on if you plan on wearing shoes or boots.

Wear the shoes or boots you want to pair with the trousers primarily to the tailor, and have them move accordingly. I just did this last night. Brought some trousers to have lengthened 1.25" for 1/2" break.

Dope fit. I need a pair of all white kicks, may just settle for the all white Van sk8 hi's.

Adrian, you think rolling up blazer sleeves ruin the sleeves eventually?

Also, anyone know if companies are rolling out F/W 14 yet? I need new black clothing.

Thanks mang.

As for sleeves, quite possibly. However, I think of this dry comfort Uniqlo blazer as more of a sweater due to its weight and composition. Therefore, pushing them back is fine in my eyes. It would be a different story if the sleeves were lined or the fabric was different.

Fit is serious about it, so sincere.

Might have to steal that since I got most the components. Only wore that blazer once so far lol.

<3 Baldwin Henley denim.

Gustin is great quality for the price and the use a ton of types of denim, not as thrilled at the slim fit but I didn't try to modify them via soaking or whatever, a tailor, etc.  Haven't even worn my pair that much to fully break them in.  The concept is really cool, not great that the wait can be a while but there's never a time at this point that I need a pair of jeans right now.

i'm a 9.5, sometimes 10. Do I go 9 or 10 on the arenas?

Also got these as a gift a while back, just sitting in the closet. Apparently they thought my size was an 8. Lol all good. Would anyone be interested? They're from suit supply looking for ALOT less than retail.
