Dressing Better Vol 2.0

JCrew offers extra 40% off then increases the prices on their items. :smh:

I swear the same shirts I bought a few months ago are up $10-$15 to compensate for the extra discount they are offering.

J. Crew has been doing this kind of **** for a while now. Kind of been put off by it.

I only visit JCrew when I get the extra 40%-50% off sale items and I think this is the first time in consecutive seasons I've checked out the same item (mostly because I really liked the fits on the shirts I got before) and low and behold and the same shirts I bought before are still practically the same price or actually cost a few dollars more.

the tommy hilfiger suit i bought several years ago is decent...i think i paid about $275 or so, always best to try to catch them on sale

after some tailoring, i actually think it fits better than the mtm suit i bought earlier this year

I been getting lucky and comparing the prices online with prices in store more. Usually I try to add my student discount with the 40-50% off so I never feel like I paid to much.

Personally, JCrew Factory is good enough for me and they typically run 50% off plus extras sometime if you're lucky. I scooped grey trousers and two pocket squares this weekend for just over $60.

If you need it by Thursday your only choice is to go to your local mall and buy whatever fits least horribly. You won't have time to order anything online or have anything altered

So I need a suit by Thursday, and I checked J. Crew's website, and all I can say is

.

For a college student on a budget, are there cheaper alternatives with similar or almost similar quality?
I have a few Banana Republic suits for semi-formal occasions.  The pricing can be real nice on sale and the quality is pretty good.

Anyone have any opinions on Bean Boots? Any idea what I can wear them with so that I don't look like I'm going hunting?

You can only do that in store right?

The duck boots? Just don't wear them with really slim jeans. I looked weird wearing such slim pants with bulky boots.

Anyone in NYC that can recommend me a tailor for jeans that they have used before or heard good reviews about?

You can wear them with anything really. They are functional boots so they look casual to me.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I went to Zara and copped a suit along with some ties and a belt for around $300, so it wasn't that bad at all.
