For the snow I have a pair of bean boots... I don't really think they can be used as dress boots. Perhaps a pair of AE Dalton's and some swim Galoshes? I'd probably extend the budget a bit and get a couple pairs of boots

When it comes for boots for the snow as you mentioned in a post after this one, get a boot that will keep your feet warm and are waterproof.
Change shoes at work if you have too.

I second this. I go to school in Illinois and they are perfect. Waterproof is really handy. Although as I asked a few pages back, they are kind of hard to style around. But for functionality they are a good choice.

A nice, leather workboot can be worn in bad weather and with nicer clothes. Might just have to up your budget or wait for good sales. I wear my black RW Beckmans everywhere.

LE canvas made some nice ones but they sat too low on my waist, felt awkward so i returned them, but they are very slim...
the material was a nice canvas, really good for the colder weather ahead...
