Dressing Better Vol 2.0

Judging from the other brands he's mentioned, I don't think he will like the fit of Brooks Brothers Extra Slim Fits.

BB ESF and CT ESF are not slim in the slightest.

Mike, go custom with Modern Tailor. They'll fit your budget, offer any/all stylings and partterns, and fit exactly as you need it to be.

Dag, you guys are making me feel like a whale.

BB ESF fit me pretty slim. No billowing or anything. Arms fit nicely too.

Do you bros even lift?

I lift. Went into BB and got turned away. The associate advised me to go the MTM route because of how I want my dress shirts to fit along with my lifting gains :smh:

I like the way BB extra slim shirts fit. Heck I even like the fit of the Slim fit shirts. I see a lot of people in these skin tights shirts... and then they are/look very uncomfortable in their clothes... or they lift their arms and its a ridiculous amount of sweat stains... I'll pass on all of that. The really slim style works for some people very well. I personally am 6'2 about 195.... shorter, wiz khalifa thin types might need super, SUPER slim shirts... just seems to look really awkward depending on your size in my opinion. The looks in GQ are also unbearably thin, people try to recreate that look (which is far from practical) and tend to look ridiculous... Again all of this is in my opinion. :\

Sidenote: I didn't even read the question so I may be completely off topic... but I wanted to rant lol.

Thats turrible customer service...

But to my knowledge, BB doesn't carry ESF in-store. I got lucky when I purchased during a sale.

Dude who originally asked the question might need to follow A's advice and go MTM.

Following up on the question about good brands for dress shirts -

Can you guys suggest brands that offer very slim fitting shirts? I'm 5'7 150 and I'm having trouble finding form fitting stuff. A lot of brands even in size small are too big.

I tried the Charles Tyrwhitt Extra Slim Fit and they were way too roomy. I've tried J. Crew, Uniqlo (closest I've found but still doesn't give me the fit I want), H&M (fit is okay but quality is obv. subpar), CT....

Budget is probably $60-$80 a shirt. Hate when the shirts bunch up in the back and on the sides....

Try Club Monaco extra slim fit

Thanks for all the advice guys. Going to check out Modern Tailor, BR Slims and Club Monaco likely in that order.

Although I'm 150 I hit the gym regularly to try and maintain some size but I'm a runner so I generally stay pretty small because of all the cardio.

I always have issues with how shirts fit off the rack, regardless of brand. My suggestion to you (and this is what I do as well) is to buy an inexpensive, decent quality shirt like Charles Tyrwhitt (you can get them for $50 a pop or less) and have them tailored. I like CT because they offer a good variety of fits and sizes so you'll probably only need to have the sides taken in and maybe the back darted if you want. In total, you'll spend around $80 for a perfectly fitting shirt.

That said, today's standard fit for a rainy day:

- Brovsko

For dress shirts, just go mtm. You can customize to your liking, ie double cuff buttons, custom collar, etc. this is what I do unless the fabrics from off the rack are just too gorgeous to pass up.

My shirts usually run $80 each from My Tailor. This is for a 2 ply customized to my liking. About $110 for the Thomas Mason fabrics.

Shot in the dark but someone asked me to find out what brand the double monks in this picture are. Seems like a hard thing to do with just this one pic but I figured if people would know it would be one of you guys.

Pants rise: Apparently for women low rise is coming back. I didn't know they went away. Most men around here are wearing selvedge of various brands and are mid-rise to low. Did I miss something, and are my Safados no longer fashionable?

^
I thought women still rocked low rise too. They bend over and you see their thongs or crack sticking out. I hate how a lot of slim fit jeans for us guys is low rise. I fon't want my crack showing either.

It's the problem of who is making the jeans, not just that they are low rise. The cut should be lower rise in front, higher rise in back, should prevent plumber's crack. Diesel makes a couple of cuts like that, but most of their low rise are just low all around. It's probably cheaper that way.

You can get Charles Tyrwhitt shirts for 30 bucks. They're decent. They usually have sales and have them that low. There doesn't seem to be one on right now but they have $30 dollar ones in their clearance section.
Thanks, it looks I can make that fit in my budget.

Guys interesting in the John Ellioitt look on a budget. This brand bit his whole look:

Yep, I'm all over this. I'll get JE once I get the fit right. I got tired of buying clothing just to realize after a couple wears, I should have gotten a different size or not really feeling it. JE isnt as prevalent so most won't even know there is a difference, for those that do they are welcome to fight me over it.

Bought Cotton On joggers before I got Zanerobe and it made me appreciate Zanerobe's quaility a lot more. Still ended up getting the wrong size in my frist pair of Zanerobe joggers but I was rushed since Cotton On's quality and fit was so bad.

I wanted to dive in on that Pacsun brand, but I just couldn't.. quality isn't there for me.. I encourge to try on in store first or just take a look first.
