Dressing Better Vol 2.0

Is this true bespoke or MTM? What's the expected turn around?

They have several product lines ultimately culminating in what I believe is considered bespoke.

With the line between bespoke and MTM becoming increasingly blurred as 'bespoke' has turned into the it-word in modern menswear marketing, I'll share my experience and let you decide what it is:

I met with Scott at Label for about 1.5 hours. I chose the fabric I wanted (they had a huge selection), the lining, the buttons, cuff type, cuff button arrangement, the lapels, vents, the pockets, the cut of the vest, and everything else down to the stitching. As the suit I'm getting will be entirely hand-made, there wasn't anything for me to try on. Scott took my measurements for about 30 minutes, including the slope of my shoulders and the arch of my back. The turn-around time to the first fitting is 4-5 weeks and they do multiple fittings afterwards to get it perfect. They even threw in a free custom shirt as a wedding gift.

Went to SuitSupply in DC, the off the rack suits were like super short on the arms smh. As much as ppl rave about them I didn't expect the sleeves to be made for a ******. i'm just 5"11 and everything else fits fine off the rack.

Why wouldn't you guys hold out a little longer, save up more money, and go with a more reputable tailor? MAB & Label NYC's websites seem really fashion forward. I don't know if I'm sold on the fit of your true bespoke suit in that pic Sarteaga0408.

Maybe I've lurked SF for far too long, but after seeing guys like Vox, Foo, Manton, etc and their bespoke adventures, I think if I was going that route, I would expect flawless lines/silhouette and fit. By no means am I an expert in menswear, but I like to think I've learned a few things of endlessly browsing SF everyday for the past 5 years.

One of the greatest recent threads to helping nail down classic men's wear is the Noodles thread over there. It's really worth checking out if you want to gain some knowledge.

Those members you mention also fall in the top 1 percent ranking. Have you seen Vox's closet? After he redid the blueprint for the house?

At one point I wanted to go bespoke but now I'm content with my mtm and otr since my frame is common.

I no longer have desire to drop $3k+ on suits and $1K+ on shoes.

The knowledge is definitely there. Even the thrift thread, a lot of class being taught.

The most important aspect for me is my well being. I would rather spend the money to eat and live a healthy lifestyle and have mediocre stuff than some of these CM dudes who have bespoke suits and eat some really exotic meals that are out of shape. I only post the latter part because I see someone like Leffot going to 5 star steakhouses on the daily

Are wide peak lapels too "flashy" for an extremely conservative environment, or is it not a big deal?

Looking at the Washington suits on SS.

I have a Washington and I work in a fairly conservative environment.

I'd wear this suit for company outings and such but I prob wouldnt wear it for regular office days.

Guess it depends on how strict they are.

Ok maybe listing those specific members were not the greatest of examples since they have $$$$ and go to extremely reputable tailors. I just think if you're going to spend the extra money and time for fittings, it shouldn't have some of the same issues as OTR suits.

I also had aspirations of dropping a bunch of money on nice suits when I got my first job out of undergrad and wanted to dress a certain way when I went in to work but then I left my job and went back to school. Now I'm 27 and back in the struggling college student boat so the days of expensive suits seems like they're ages away.

Spending way too much time on SF in my earlier 20's had me dressing like a lot of the older dudes when it came to casual wear. Within the past year I started venturing into SWD and trying to change my aesthetic, which ultimately brought me here.

With bespoke, it's your decision if you want to get something more fashion forward or classic. Def can't put a run of the mill guy against Vox though

But I agree, there are definitely better makers. If I could have it the way I want, I would get one made with BnTailor or perhaps a house on Savile Row. However as those are not an option (nor is my bank account set up in that type of way) I will just hold off.

That being said, as my friend from MAB can give me his fam/friends disco, I might do my first bespoke later this year with them.

Surprisingly found a nice long peacoat/topcoat from Super Dry. Bought it for $70 after being on sale for $109 from $228. Not really feeling the shoulder straps but I needed a long coat and I coudnt pass on the price.

Anyways, anybody know any brands that have new black sweaters/cardigans out?

Just for reference, Serg is actually one of my best friends. So he knows what I say next is the truth but out of love

I am curious what you think is wrong with his suit. Being a man of his size, there are many things that basting has done to help create his pattern. Just from body shape, I know he had a sloped shoulder. While an OTR suit would display serious crunching, the jacket actually looks near perfect.

Also, his shoulder line is flush with no divots whatsoever.

In a perfectly framed picture, this would be more obvious. However from what I have seen, it's near spot on.

I'm genuinely curious what makes you question his "bespoke fit".

They're really good guys, I used to work with one of the owners before he left to start this business with his brother. I have one suit from them so far and was very happy with the outcome, it took a little bit longer than 4-5 weeks but I wasn't in a big rush. As far as MTM or bespoke, they do both, obviously at very different price points. My biggest compliment with them is their flexibility with coming in for a fitting, my schedule is rather busy and the person I met with was able to schedule me at 7am on a Saturday for my initial fitting and 10PM on a weekday for my second fitting.

Probably at that library… Make sure he measures you MULTIPLE times. I met up with him out there and the suit came out so awful (even after he had his tailor try to fix it) that i've never worn it.

Damn...now I'm a little nervous about this [emoji]128532[/emoji]

I'm so hurt I keep repeatedly seeing size 48/50 ToJ's up on grailed/styleforum. I need a murdered out double rider, badly.

As of now I'm rocking with my Schott 626

You must have OD long arms b.

Coming from someone who is 5'10", most cuts fit fine for me. Idk how you are claiming they were made for midgets
