Dressing Better Vol 2.0

Recommendations for a Weekender bag? I had an everlane one that I let my Uncle borrow, and probably will never get back

Also a nice slim travelling backpack? Just big enough for a laptop/sweater etc.

Going to NY in May trying to prepare.

I've been told by a recruiter/hiring manager friend that the walnut strands I own would have been too aggressive and forward for an interview with his company (in finance.)

Then again, he also said a red tie would be considered too arrogant and aggressive for a new hire to show up in for an interview. So take it with a grain of salt. Wear what makes you feel confident.

The arbitrary things that human beings attach meaning to sometimes just dumbfound me. A red tie is "arrogant and aggressive". Interesting.

I've also seen people post how not wearing a belt with your suit will be viewed negatively. Such petty things like that to judge a person. Really outdated way of thinking and silly.

It's funny cause 90% of people who wear suits in the US wear choppa suits and square toed shoes. I'd rather look "aggressive" than look like a slob

Anyone have experience with Jay Butler?  My co-worker had some horse-bits on today that he seemed to like.  He said they were under $200 and could be re-soled

I checked the site briefly and they only had like 4 pairs of kicks so iono.

Check Jack Spade if you're not looking for leather, don't pay retail.  I've had a canvas jack spade weekend bag for 7ish years now that gets the job done in most situations.

I went into a Zara yesterday. They were looking real clean.....I liked a lot of stuff in there.

They obviously copy trends/designers I'm aware.

I went to Zara and saw some nice brown loafers with the tassels. Probably will cop some in the near future.

need some advice. I have never worn a pocket square before, going to be wearing a navy suit, either a white or light blue shirt, and a bowtie. How should I match, the pocket square to the tie?

Depends on the color and pattern of the bow tie. Don't wear an exact match though. Try to complement the tie with the pocket square. Say for example that the tie is blue with light blue polka dots, you can get a pocket square that is white with light blue contrast edging. Try to use the secondary color of the tie as the primary color of the pocket square. That's my advice and normally what I do if not wearing a plain white pocket square.

Here's a pic of what I normally do.

Sorry for the awful pic. The top right tie is a brown wool tie if that's not clear.

Does anyone own rubber sole v tread Allen Edmonds shoes? Can you tell me what V tread is? Would you recommend them over plain soled AE shoes?
