Dressing Better Vol 2.0

It's weird because on one hand I can't tell if it means they'd be more comfortable because the toe is so much wider or just means my foot would move around more and get sore from running. It's odd that they're so much bigger than the other shoes made with the same last.

9 times out of 10 I go with the smaller pair. Not sure how long you've owned yours but don't forget the cork insoles will compress so it makes the issue with the PAs worse (which it did for me). One thing you can do if you have enough pairs to rotate is just wear them during f/w with thicker socks.

Not sure about the separates thing, but I will say that I didnt see anyone doing it.

For shoes I'm guessing, Brown, Chestnut, and Black?
Hate bow ties with a passion. Abhor them

Brown calf lace up, a brown loafer in suede or calf, walnut of your choice. I'm not a fan of black. I do have a couple of pairs but that would be my go to. If no one is doing separates then I would go with a light gray prince of wales suit for my 3rd option.

Hi everyone...I have a question regarding Ties and the half-windsor knot...Been looking on youtube and the web and I am confused as hell. Are there two ways to do this knot? It seems like both ways are different:

These two look like the same process:

http://www.brooksbrothers.com/how-to-tie-a-tie/how-to-tie-a-tie,default,pg.html#

 (click half-windsor)

Then I also see videos that do it this way:

Am I missing something or are these two different things?

Those two are the same, it's just that the Brooks Brothers guy was sliding his hand as he pulled through while the UK guy was pulling the same part of the tie. Both do the same overlap, through the loop, overlap, through the loop motion.

thanks for your response..but it still looks different the way

and

the first one, when he first put's the wider part over the smaller, he just goes under and over. The second video, the guy puts the wider part over smaller, but then wraps the wider part over again so the back of the tie is facing forward, then goes UP and over no?

The only difference is the side the wider part is on. One guy has it on the left and the other on starts on the right.

Edit: you're right. The guy with the brown tie messes up the first step.

I've got an internship this summer that requires business casual. For those of y'all that have it at your workplace, what do you usually go with? I kind of want to do more than just slacks and button down.

Prepare to see a lot of ralph and chinos. If you wear any type of jacket you will be in the 1%. Ditto for any neckwear.

Should I just wait to see what people are wearing before I buy anything beyond slacks and dress shirts? Also what shoes would you recommend. I'm thinking of getting some loafers since it will be summer.

Had some of the DBNT tesm at my wedding last Sunday. Appreciate yall for being part of our special day and for Adrian for being in the background of a lot of pics

Shoutout to Carlin. I decided on wearing the Mora 2.0's which I received from the 2013(?) DBNT Secret Santa :pimp:

What age group are the majority of your coworkers? Only our senior PJM, PE, RA, wear proper trous and sometimes dress shirts. Im guessing guessing you're in your early 20's (?) in which case literally everyone under 30 is wearing short sleeve polos and like... alpha khakis.

Also peep your employee handbook/check with hr if in doubt.

Yeah my mom keeps telling me it's okay if you dress more casual you're just an intern. I'm like nah I should strive to look good at all times.

I'm 20. I haven't even visited the offices yet so not really too sure what people will be wearing. I'll be working with the sales team and I've heard that can be a bit dressier seeing as they meet with clients. Kinda wanted to go beyond polo and khakis but I also don't want to stick out too much to the point it could be distracting or whatever.

Congrats man, even got the dog dressing better :smokin

I've owned 3 or 4 pairs of Suit Supply shoes. They seem to be making them better as of late but early on the quality was far from impressive. After maybe 6 months, the heel came off of mine. I was able to get the pair replaced but that just surprised me. Also the leather on that older pair seemed quite thin and just not of good quality.

Since then, I've noticed (and confirmed with my SA) that they've significantly increased the quality and I have bought some from the new production runs and I'm much happier with those pairs (chocolate double strap monks, tan single strap monks, tassel loafers). They seem to be holding up great so far.

In terms of comfort, they're average but they get the job done for work purposes. I know they're not necessarily a GOOD shoe but I like most of their styling and the price isn't bad at all so for work (which I'm not even required to go in everyday), they work fine.

I like some meermin models a lot and they look to be of relatively superior quality but their monks and some other models are not as sleek/stylish as suit supply's models (in my opinion) and since I wear a lot their clothes, their shoes keep the look cohesive.... And it's just convenient as hell- one stop shop! Lol

Thanks man! I like meermin but the sizing is keeping me from ordering. Return shipping is a hassle. Would much rather go to SS and check them out in person than order from oversees. Would you mind posting pictures of the models you have when you get a chance? I'd love to see more real life pics. Thanks again I really appreciate the thorough response.

I remember everyone flourishing on the RL Singleton loafers (from AE).

Now I want a pair. Was wondering what similar pair was the AE ones so I can try to get them from the shoebank.

Thanks!

I own quite a few pairs of Meermin shoes I may be able to help you out with the sizing.

Look through the StyleForum Marketplace I know someone has a few pairs for $150. I was looking but couldn't find it in the first few pages. If I find it I will edit this with the link.

Edit: Found it....

Thank you! I wear an 11.5 sneaker and have a pair of AE strands in 11E. After breaking them in I think I could've gone 10.5E but would've been a tight fit. What do you think would be my size in the meermin double monks and loafers?
And if you have either the monk straps in burgundy or the loafers in the dark brown suede would you mind posting pics? Thanks again.
