Brad Stephenson does a Q&A on Reddit about his experience hacking a Nike Elite Account for $80K

This is just the intro post:

Greetings redditors and redditees, Nike has a separate website (NikeElite.com) designed specifically for the professional athletes they sponsor to order merchandise, as a part of their endorsement deals, without charge. I was on my laptop one night and I found a loophole in their system which allowed me to hack into a plethora of professional athlete accounts (all big names). Once I was in, I registered myself as a guest so I could maintain access. Then it was time to begin making orders. I started out small and made a few $300 shipments to my apartment using three different accounts. I waited to see if Nike would notice what I was doing… but they didn't. I decided to expand the operation so I recruited people to accept deliveries for me in four different states (Arizona, Virginia, Florida, North Carolina). I spent the next five months racking up over $80,000 worth of sports gear. I was on top of the world, until I got a knock on the door from the Secret Service… with a search warrant. They ended up busting my door down and they ultimately seized 231 pieces of Nike equipment I had stored in my condo as evidence. After hiring a good lawyer, I agreed to assist Nike so they could fix their problem and plug all of their leaks in exchange for avoiding prison time and being placed on probation.

I've been shot at, played college baseball and was a friend/assistant/trainer/pick-up artist for professional athletes before becoming interested in computers. I wrote a book which contains plenty of crazy stories about girls, celebrities, inside information and confidential documents I haven't released yet. Still contemplating going the traditional or e-book route.

Proof: Here is my search warrant: [1] http://playerseason.com/search-warrant-after-hacking-nike/ Here is my door after the Secret Service broke it down. [2] http://playerseason.com/player-presidents-door-after-secret-service-raid/

There was also a story about me on yahoo news/zdnet/net-security.org recently. [3] http://www.zdnet.com/nike-hacker-steals-over-80000-7000001177/ [4] http://www.net-security.org/secworld.php?id=13277 [5]http://news.yahoo.com/nike-gets-hacked-brad-stephenson-80-000-sports-141616387.html?_esi=1

I'm on reddit every single day as it is so AMAA!

EDIT: I did it reddit! 24 hours straight and I answered EVERY single question you asked of me! It was fun and thanks to everyone who gave their opinion, asked a question or gave advice. I will do another AMA when the book comes around so wish me luck! Anyone who wants to talk further feel free to PM me. This, my friends, is how you AMAA like a BOSS!

Problem is when you realize you are invincible i.e. ordering and not getting caught, you let greed take over rational thought thus the end for the little operation.

Just needed to vent... Very jeolous of athletes and/or friends of athletes who have access to the nike elite site. I've heard that the shoes available are discounted (not sure by how much exactly though). The nike elite site also has different inventory/stock to pull from. Its like when retailers hold back stock for new store openings.

Where i live, the resell market is evolving towards having a connected athlete assist with "special" product ordering. Inl wouldnt say bulk ordering but for example if someone wanted a size 11 retro and couldnt find it for retail, they would use this connection to get the shoe at a discount and then sell for the higher taxed reseller price.

I hope that nike has a way to red flag orders that clearly are not for that athlete.

Sorry. Has nothing to do with the butler coach. Some dude in AZ (in the 2012 article) got busted for hacking a friend/client's credentials into nike elite (site that us mere mortals dont have access to)

Its that envy cuz i dont have one or a connect that has access. Then finding out that a reseller near me might be using one to get stuff on the cheap and then unloading for the reseller rate.

Just hatin on the hustle

Just venting. Its not a good shop. They kill ppl on their taxing. I think they are marketing to the younger generation of hypebeasts. Lots of used shoes and trade-ins.

I posted in this forum bc it referenced the guy that got busted for hacking the site.
